Believe it or not, the current most-followed artist on Spotify isn’t a Western pop star: it’s Arijit Singh , the king of Bollywood ballads. While multiple account creations in regions like India may slightly boost numbers, his lead over global icons is still striking.
Right behind him is Taylor Swift , whose recent surge has cemented her as the most-followed female artist on the platform.
Former leader Ed Sheeran is still in the top 3, even if his momentum has slowed. He was the first to reach 100 million followers back in July 2022 , and held the top spot for years.
Before him, Rihanna had made history as the first artist to cross 10 million followers in April 2017. When Ed Sheeran dropped Divide later that year, he overtook her. Despite releasing little in the last decade, Rihanna still hovers near the top 10.
Ariana Grande also once led among female artists. Today, she sits at #5, just behind Billie Eilish , the youngest star in this elite group. All five have now passed the 100 million follower mark.
There’s a fierce contest among rap giants too: Drake and Eminem are both holding strong inside the top 10. And Bad Bunny , the face of Latin music, sits right behind them at #9.
