Taylor Swift dominates Spotify again

For only the second time in history, an artist has surpassed 20 billion streams in a single year on Spotify. This remarkable achievement once again belongs to Taylor Swift, who accumulated a staggering 28.21 billion plays, driven by her incredible catalog and the massive success of The Tortured Poets Department.

Swift’s total is more than double that of the runner-up, Canadian superstar The Weeknd. Following closely behind are Drake and Bad Bunny, making the top four identical to last year’s rankings.

Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande had extraordinary years, climbing from outside the top 15 in 2023 to positions 5 and 6 in 2024. Both broke the 10 billion streams milestone, cementing their place among the year’s top performers.

As with our report last year, this page lists all artists who achieved at least 5 billion streams in 2024. Only lead streams are included, with features excluded. Unlike Spotify Wrapped, which misses streams from the last five weeks of the year, our ranking spans the full calendar year, from January 1 to December 31.

This year, 37 artists reached the 5 billion mark, up from 28 in 2023. It remains a highly challenging feat, as evidenced by the impressive names just shy of the cutoff, such as Beyoncé, Arctic Monkeys, Tyler, The Creator, Chappell Roan, Noah Kahan, Benson Boone, and more.

Some notable artists dropped out of the rankings this year, namely BTS (#21 in 2023), Shakira (#25), Harry Styles (#27), and Miley Cyrus (#28), who were unable to replicate their 2023 success.

The most streamed artists of 2024 on Spotify

37 (14) Ed Sheeran – 5.00 billion streams

Once unthinkable, British superstar Ed Sheeran appears to be on his way out the ranks. This year, he recorded 5.00 billion streams, a notable drop from 6.35 billion in 2023. He released no new material except for the compilation +–=÷× (Tour Collection), which performed well globally, thanks to the enduring appeal of his catalog.

In 2024, Sheeran lost his position as the most-followed artist on Spotify, now ranking third. His spot among the platform’s five most-streamed artists of all time is also under threat for 2025. This decline is particularly stark as the other four artists on that list remain firmly in the top four of this year’s tally, as we’ll see later.

36 (NE) Imagine Dragons – 5.26 billion streams

After narrowly missing the cut last year with 4.8 billion streams, Imagine Dragons surged in 2024, accumulating 5.26 billion streams. They rank as the second-most streamed U.S. band.

However, the release of their new album Loom was a commercial disappointment. After six months, it has barely reached 353 million streams, currently averaging a sluggish half a million streams per day. Their back catalog remains their main strength, with Evolve, Night Visions, and Mercury – Acts 1 & 2 each pulling in over 2 million daily streams.

35 (NE) Lady Gaga – 5.63 billion streams

Although Lady Gaga’s catalog has always performed well, she wasn’t close to hitting 5 billion streams last year, finishing with 3.78 billion. Her 2024 total of 5.63 billion marks a significant resurgence.

Her duet with Bruno Mars, Die With A Smile, was a colossal hit, spending 98 days at #1 on Spotify’s global chart and amassing over 1.37 billion streams. On the flip side, her contributions to the Harlequin and Joker: Folie à Deux soundtracks, along with the single Disease, failed to gain much traction.

Nonetheless, her older tracks continue to thrive. The Fame Monster pulls in over 4 million daily streams, led by Poker Face, which yesterday surpassed 1.5 billion streams since its release.

34 (NE) Linkin Park – 5.68 billion streams

One of the year’s most remarkable comebacks belongs to Linkin Park. The tragic passing of lead vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017 seemed to end their journey, but their return with Emily Armstrong has been both a critical and commercial triumph. Their new album From Zero is nearing a billion streams after just seven weeks, driven by the hit single The Emptiness Machine.

This unexpected revival has also boosted their classic tracks. In 2024, In The End and Numb both surpassed 2 billion streams, while Numb/Encore and What I’ve Done crossed 1 billion. Faint and One Step Closer are set to follow soon.

Overall, the band reached 5.68 billion streams in 2024, up from 3.56 billion in 2023, reclaiming their position as the most-streamed U.S. group.

33 (26) David Guetta – 5.72 billion streams

The French DJ remains a gold standard in his field. David Guetta recorded 5.72 billion streams in 2024, up from 5.17 billion in 2023 and 4.13 billion in 2022 – an impressive feat considering he has not released a full album since 7 in 2018. Instead, Guetta focuses on standalone singles, with I Don’t Wanna Wait leading the way in 2024, amassing over 450 million streams.

His extensive discography and enduring appeal secure his spot on this list. With over 1,000 distinct recordings on Spotify – 232 of which have surpassed 10 million streams – his catalog is a powerhouse. At 57, Guetta is the oldest artist in this year’s ranking, proving that his cool factor knows no bounds.

32 (NE) Dua Lipa – 5.74 billion streams

For Dua Lipa, 2024 was a mixed year. Following two blockbuster albums that each surpassed 13 billion streams, her latest effort, Radical Optimism, had high expectations. While Houdini gained traction and Training Season found moderate success, the album itself only managed 1.6 billion streams – a decent performance but underwhelming compared to her past work.

Her #32 position underscores the enduring popularity of her self-titled debut, Future Nostalgia and hits like Cold Heart and Dance the Night. Despite the lukewarm reception of her new album, Dua Lipa’s total annual streams rose to 5.74 billion, up from 4.92 billion in 2023.

31 (NE) Olivia Rodrigo – 5.85 billion streams

Olivia Rodrigo’s performance this year is truly remarkable. With just two albums – 2021’s Sour and 2023’s Guts – plus a handful of tracks from her Disney days, she accumulated 5.85 billion streams in 2024, nearly a billion more than the previous year. This is despite the relatively modest reception of the five additional tracks included in Guts (Spilled), released in March 2024.

Her success stems from an incredibly consistent catalog. Of the 28 tracks from Sour and Guts, 27 are still pulling over 100,000 daily streams. jealousy, jealousy recently surpassed 1 billion streams, becoming the seventh track from Sour to hit that milestone, an all-time record for a single album. Remarkably, only four of these seven billionaires were released as singles.

While Guts hasn’t matched the stratospheric numbers of its predecessor, it’s aging well, with a total of 4.5 billion streams and counting. Both albums rank side by side among 2024’s most-streamed, with Sour at #14 (2.73 billion streams) and Guts at #15 (2.62 billion streams).

30 (12) Metro Boomin – 5.91 billion streams

After a breakout year in 2023, Metro Boomin slipped from #12 to #30 in 2024. However, his streams saw only a slight decline, from 6.53 billion to 5.91 billion. His 2022 album Heroes & Villains continues to perform well, adding nearly 2 billion new streams this year, bringing its total close to 6 billion.

Metro also released two high-profile collaborations with Future, We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You, which collectively garnered over 2.5 billion streams. The former includes the U.S. #1 hit Like That featuring Kendrick Lamar, a song that sparked a widely publicized feud between Lamar and Drake. Before this, Type Shit peaked at #2 and maintained Metro’s strong presence on the charts.

It will be fascinating to see whether the St. Louis native can sustain this momentum in 2025.

29 (NE) Pritam – 5.99 billion streams

If you’re not yet familiar with the biggest names in Indian music, it’s time to take note. With Spotify’s user base surging in India, artists like Pritam are climbing the global ranks.

The prolific Bollywood composer had one of his quieter years in terms of output, releasing just three soundtracks in 2024 compared to seven in 2023. Still, his growing listener base propelled him to nearly 6 billion streams, securing his debut on this list. At 53, he is both the second-oldest artist in the ranking and the second-highest ranked Indian artist.

28 (NE) Rauw Alejandro – 6.08 billion streams

After his 2021 peak with Vice Versa, it seemed Rauw Alejandro‘s star was vanishing, possibly overshadowed by fellow Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny. However, his latest album Cosa Nuestra is proving otherwise, pulling in 770 million streams in just seven weeks and sustaining an impressive 10 million daily stream pace.

Earlier in the year, Santa was another standout hit, now nearing 600 million streams. These fresh successes, combined with a solid back catalog, lifted his annual streams to 6.08 billion – an impressive jump from 4.97 billion in 2023.

27 (NE) Natanael Cano – 6.12 billion streams

Following in Peso Pluma’s footsteps, Mexican rapper Natanael Cano’s meteoric rise is undeniable. Starting his career in 2018, his lead streams have skyrocketed from 2.7 billion in 2022 to 7.3 billion in 2023, and now to 13.4 billion by the end of 2024.

This achievement comes without releasing an album in 2024. Instead, a string of hit singles with collaborators like Peso Pluma, Óscar Maydon, Gabito Ballesteros, Tito Double P and Bizarrap kept his momentum alive. His biggest track, Madonna, has over 540 million streams, while older songs like 2021’s Diamantes gained renewed popularity.

26 (23) Post Malone – 6.29 billion streams

Post Malone’s numbers remain strong, though his results are often judged against his own colossal past achievements. In 2024, he improved on 2023’s 5.83 billion streams, reaching 6.29 billion.

His 2024 album F-1 Trillion has already surpassed the 1.7 billion streams of 2023’s Austin, with the potential to outpace 2022’s Twelve Carat Toothache at 2.75 billion. Meanwhile, the single I Had Some Help (featuring Morgan Wallen) is set to become his biggest hit of the 2020s, overtaking I Like You (with Doja Cat).

Though this tally excludes features, it’s worth noting the nearly 800 million streams he contributed to Taylor Swift’s Fortnight. The future will reveal whether Post Malone can again reach the heights of his earlier, record-breaking singles without the help with top notch collaborators.

25 (NE) Fuerza Regida – 6.30 billion streams

While Linkin Park claimed the title of the #1 U.S. group in 2024, technically, regional Mexican music band Fuerza Regida holds that spot. In fact, despite their music genre, they come in California, US. In recent years, the group’s growth has been exponential.

From 1.9 billion career streams in 2022, they soared to 6.65 billion by the end of 2023, and now add another 6.3 billion for a total approaching 13 billion. Their 2023 album Pa Las Baby’s Y Belikeada has amassed 3.1 billion streams, while 2024’s Pero No Te Enamores adds 565 million and continues to grow.

Their hit single Tu Boda with Óscar Maydon dominated charts across Central America, including nine weeks at #1 in Mexico, and peaked at #22 on the U.S. Hot 100.

24 (18) Morgan Wallen – 6.34 billion streams

Morgan Wallen’s dominance in the country genre is unparalleled. At 6.34 billion streams in 2024, he surpassed his 2023 total of 6.14 billion, despite a relatively quiet release year.

After wrapping up his One Thing at a Time era with its eighth single, Cowgirls, Wallen released Lies Lies Lies and Love Somebody. The latter became a chart-topping hit, building anticipation for his next album. A new single, Smile, arrived on the last day of the year.

Wallen’s success also carried over into collaborations, as evidenced by his feature on Post Malone’s I Had Some Help, which is on track to reach 1 billion streams. His albums One Thing at a Time and Dangerous: The Double Album remain the top two most-streamed country records on Spotify.

23 (22) Justin Bieber – 6.39 billion streams

Fifteen years into his career, Justin Bieber remains a Spotify powerhouse despite his minimal output. His discography includes just five studio albums (plus a holiday album), with the last, Justice, released in 2021. Bieber hasn’t dropped a new single or even a feature since Honest nearly three years ago, leaving no 2024 entries at all on his Wikipedia discography page.

Yet, Bieber continues to secure his place among Spotify’s elite. His streams rose from 5.89 billion in 2023 to 6.39 billion in 2024. With 46.2 billion lead streams on Spotify, he’s comfortably one of the platform’s all-time top 10 artists.

Hits like Stay, Sorry, Ghost, Love Yourself, and Beauty and a Beat still garner over 1 million daily streams each. Even deep cuts like Confident, a modest chart performer upon release, now attract 5 million weekly streams. Despite expectations that the streaming era may not suit teen pop artists well, Bieber‘s enduring relevance confirms his industry giant status.

22 (20) Rihanna – 6.49 billion streams

Rihanna‘s infamous album delay continues, making R9 more meme than reality. Nearly a decade has passed since Anti’s release, and her fans grow increasingly impatient. This hiatus contrasts starkly with her early years, during which she released seven albums in less time than it’s taken to prepare her ninth. Rihanna hasn’t even appeared as a feature since 2017.

Nonetheless, her vast catalog continues to thrive. With 16 songs surpassing a billion streams – 12 of them as a lead artist – she remains a dominant force. Even tracks like Breakin’ Dishes (an album cut from 2007) have seen a resurgence, climbing to 1.4 million daily streams and even landing on Spotify’s Top 200 chart. While her fans await new music, her legacy on streaming platforms remains untouchable.

21 (NE) Zach Bryan – 6.72 billion streams

Zach Bryan’s ascent has been remarkable. Although his career began in 2019, his breakout came in 2022 with American Heartbreak. The album features Something in the Orange, a track that transformed his career, now boasting 1.15 billion streams. The song continues to chart on Spotify’s U.S. Top 40 nearly three years after its release.

Bryan’s self-titled album, released in 2023, added fuel to his success with the smash hit I Remember Everything. Older songs, like his single Heading South, have become slow-burning hits, now with over 700 million streams.

His 2024 release, The Great American Bar Scene, has also made waves, crossing 700 million streams in just months. Overall, his annual total of 6.72 billion streams places him as the #1 country artist on Spotify for 2024, surpassing Morgan Wallen.

20 (13) Junior H – 6.75 billion streams

Junior H continues to ride the wave of Mexican Regional music’s global surge, posting 6.75 billion streams in 2024, up from 6.38 billion the previous year. His 2023 album $ad Boyz 4 Life II has reached 2.5 billion streams, driven by standout tracks like Y Lloro and Rockstar, both still top 20 in Mexico more than a year post-release.

Singles like Lady Gaga, with Peso Pluma and Gabito Ballesteros, remain massive, amassing over 800 million streams. With 18 songs currently in Spotify Mexico’s Top 200, Junior H songs’ staying power is a testament to his music’s enduring popularity.

19 (24) Coldplay – 6.75 billion streams

Coldplay reclaims the title of the world’s biggest band in 2024 over BTS, moving up from #24 to #19. Their streams jumped from 5.58 billion in 2023 to 6.75 billion this year, bringing their career total to an impressive 36 billion, they are #15 on Spotify’s all-time leaderboard.

However, this success isn’t driven by their new material. 2024’s Moon Music has underperformed, gathering less than 400 million streams to date, significantly trailing 2021’s Music of the Spheres (2.4 billion). Instead, Coldplay’s enduring hits continue to shine.

Classics like Yellow, Viva La Vida, and Something Just Like This maintain high chart positions. Yellow hit #19 on Spotify’s Global weekly chart this year and has stayed in the Top 200 for four consecutive years. Also charted this year were Viva La Vida (#31 peak), Something Just Like This (#62), Christmas Lights (#80), A Sky Full of Stars (#83), Sparks (#90), The Scientist (#122). Many more like Clocks or Fix You ranked on national lists, proving Coldplay’s golden-era tunes are as vital as ever.

18 (8) SZA – 6.84 billion streams

SZA’s frontrunner position in R&B continues, bolstered by her landmark albums Ctrl and SOS. The former crossed 5 billion streams in 2024, while the latter surpassed 10 billion, solidifying its place as the most-streamed English-language album of 2022. With nearly 14 million equivalent album units sold, SOS ranks among the top 10 albums of the 2020s.

In 2024, SOS added 4.42 billion streams, ranking #4 among the year’s top albums. Hits like Kill Bill and Snooze continue to achieve 2 million daily streams, while tracks such as Saturn and Nobody Gets Me remain Spotify chart fixtures. The extended Lana version of the album may maintain its high profile throughout 2025.

SZA’s annual total of 6.84 billion streams nearly matches her 2023 tally of 7.10 billion, shooting her into the all-time top 50 artist with 22.7 billion career lead streams.

17 (NE) Kendrick Lamar – 6.91 billion streams

Kendrick Lamar and SZA will forever be linked, thanks to their long tenure with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and their classic collaborations. However, Lamar‘s 2024 was particularly unique. The rapper who’s now part of his own label, pgLang, saw a highly publicized exchange of diss tracks with Drake, with Lamar’s Not Like Us emerging as a wild smash hit. It is poised to reach 1 billion streams within a week, making it the 14th most-streamed track of 2024, and the #1 hip-hop song. On the same ranking, Like That by Metro Boomin, Future, and Kendrick Lamar ranks 3rd.

Lamar’s latest album, GNX, has also performed exceptionally well. Despite no singles preceding its release, it has already surpassed 1 billion streams in just 6 weeks, placing it among the top 7 most-streamed hip-hop albums of the year. These new tracks, combined with his enduring legacy, have propelled Lamar to a total of 6.91 billion streams, marking a significant increase from his 2023 total of 4.89 billion. As the 2025 Super Bowl halftime performer, Kendrick Lamar is set to make even more headlines in the coming year.

16 (6) Feid – 7.61 billion streams

Feid‘s slight drop in streams from 7.90 billion to 7.61 billion doesn’t diminish the extraordinary success he experienced in 2024. The Colombian singer recently surpassed 20 billion career streams, overtaking Maluma and now ranking 4th among Colombian artists, trailing Shakira by just 2 billion streams – a gap that could be closed in 2025.

Feid‘s popularity increase has been outstanding. Having surpassed 1 billion streams in February 2021, 2 billion in May 2022, and 5 billion in January 2023, his 2024 success was driven largely by his 2022 and 2023 releases. Feliz Cumpleaños, Ferxxo, Te Pirateamos El Álbum, and Ferxxocalipsis combined for 6.5 billion streams. Songs like Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo, Luna, and Classy 101 all surpassed 1 billion streams this year.

15 (7) Karol G – 7.64 billion streams

We stay in Colombia, Medellín, but go upstairs with Karol G. With 7.64 billion streams in 2024, she slightly outpaced her 2023 total of 7.41 billion. Career-wise, she has amassed over 27.5 billion streams, placing her 2nd among Colombian artists and #27 overall. She trails J Balvin by 9 billion streams, though J Balvin‘s pace has slowed, opening the door for Karol G to close that gap in the coming years.

Karol G‘s 2024 success was largely fueled by hits from 2023, including TQG, Qlona, Provenza, and Mamii. The Tusa singer also released a groundbreaking hit this year, Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido, which has already surpassed 850 million streams in just six months, with daily streams exceeding 3 million to this day. This track became the 2nd most-streamed Spanish-language hit of the year, behind only Gata by FloyyMenor & Cris MJ.

14 (15) Arijit Singh – 7.72 billion streams

Arijit Singh remains the undisputed leader of India’s music industry. The #1 Indian artist every year since the start of the decade, he is the prime choice as playback singer in Bollywood’s blockbuster releases like Brahmastra, Tamasha, Kabir Singh, Jawan or Aashiqui 2.

With over 1,200 distinct releases on Spotify, his catalog is unparalleled. While only two Indian songs have topped 500 million streams, including his own Kesariya (with Pritam), Singh has amassed 68 songs with over 100 million streams – a feat unimaginable when Spotify was launched in this country back in 2019.

As the most-followed artist on Spotify, Singh‘s stream pace continues to accelerate. His 2024 streams grew from 6.35 billion to 7.72 billion, with even more growth expected in 2025.

13 (10) Lana Del Rey – 7.73 billion streams

Lana Del Rey‘s unique trajectory from online sensation to cult favorite to mainstream success is reflected in her 7.73 billion streams in 2024. Despite a quiet year in terms of new releases, aside from Tough (190 million streams) and Blue Skies (2.5 million), Lana’s extensive back catalog continues to perform exceptionally well.

Albums like Born to Die (near 6 million daily streams, 2.05 billion in 2024), Ultraviolence (3 million+), Norman Fucking Rockwell! (2 million+), and Lust For Life, Honeymoon and Blvd (1.5 million+) remain popular, with even her more modest releases like Blue Banisters and Chemtrails Over the Country Club seeing 700,000 streams per day.

With a tenth album slated for release in May 2025, titled The Right Person Will Stay, Lana Del Rey is poised to maintain her place on this list in 2025.

12 (NE) Sabrina Carpenter – 7.84 billion streams

Sabrina Carpenter’s incredible rise in 2024 has been nothing short of astonishing. In just one year, her streams skyrocketed from 1.59 billion to 7.84 billion, a remarkable 393% increase. In a mere twelve months, she went from a decade-long B-league career to becoming one of the world’s biggest stars. As an illustration of this change of profile, her followers on Spotify grew from 6.9 million to 17.3 million during the year.

Her breakout hit Espresso dominated Spotify’s daily charts for 32 days and remains in the top 10 after 9 months, with 1.77 billion streams. It missed out to become 2024’s most streamed song in the final day to Billie Eilish‘s Birds of a Feather. Other hits like Please Please Me and Taste also made waves, with Please Please Me ranking #8 for the year with 1.14 billion streams. Taste rounded out the top 20 with almost 700 million streams. Sabrina Carpenter’s album Short N’ Sweet was the 3rd most-streamed album of the year, and older tracks like Nonsense and Feather saw their cumulative streams nearly double in 2024.

11 (11) Eminem – 8.12 billion streams

Rap god Eminem continues his remarkable journey with 8.12 billion streams in 2024, up from 6.86 billion last year. At 52, he is one of the oldest artists on this list and the oldest vocalist. Once again, he is the biggest artist to have debuted before 2000.

One of his standout tracks, Houdini, is among the five hip-hop songs from 2024 to surpass 500 million streams. His latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), which features Houdini, is approaching 1.4 billion streams, ranking 4th among the most-streamed hip-hop albums of 2024.

Eminem’s classic albums also continue to dominate. The Eminem Show leads his catalog with nearly 7.9 billion streams, making it the 42nd most-streamed album ever and the top album of the 2000s. The Marshall Mathers LP ranks 9th on that latter list, with nearly 5 billion streams. Many of his massive hits, namely Without Me, Mockingbird, Lose Yourself, The Real Slim Shady, Godzilla, and Smack That, charted in the Global top 200 in 2024.

10 (NE) Bruno Mars – 8.36 billion streams

2024 has been an impressive comeback year for Bruno Mars, who shattered the record for most monthly listeners with only a couple of new songs. His collaboration with Lady Gaga, Die With a Smile, has reached 1.4 billion streams and continues to grow, right now the #1 song in the world. It ranks 4th among the biggest hits of 2024 and is expected to climb further. APT with Rosé is also gaining momentum, sitting at #18 for the year and climbing week after week.

Bruno Mars‘ global reach has always been remarkable, but 2024 served as a powerful reminder of his widespread popularity, even with a limited release schedule. Legacy hit Locked Out of Heaven soared to #23 this year, Treasure ranked peaked at #28, Just the Way You Are at #34, and When I Was Your Man at #38. Other tracks like Talking to the Moon (#45), It Will Rain (#71), and Grenade (#143) also made notable appearances on the charts. It’s almost as if these songs were newly released, even though many of them are over a decade old.

Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which has nearly 9.5 billion streams, remains the #1 album of 2010 and ranks #26 all-time. In 2024, it added 2.1 billion streams. Unorthodox Jukebox follows with almost 7 billion streams, it charts at #3 for 2012 and #57 all-time. Lastly, 24K Magic has amassed 6.25 billion, placing it #10 for 2016 and at #78 among all-time albums. Bruno Mars’ total for 2024 is 8.36 billion streams, up from 4.83 billion last year. A new album in 2025 could be one of the biggest events in music.

9 (17) Travis Scott – 8.41 billion streams

At first glance, 2024 might not seem like a major year for Travis Scott, as he had no new album following Utopia’s release in July 2023 and very few new songs. The most notable one was Type Shit with Metro Boomin, Future, and Playboi Carti. However, his track FE!N quickly became a classic, garnering 1.12 billion streams, it is within striking distance of Doja Cat‘s Paint the Town Red as the most streamed hip-hop track from 2023.

Its parent album Utopia remained strong too, with 5.3 billion streams to date, including 2.96 billion this year. It is the biggest hip-hop album of 2023 and the 5th biggest from the 2020s. The 2014 mixtape Days Before Rodeo was first released on streaming platforms this year, recording 400 million streams.

In addition, Scott’s older hits like Goosebumps, Highest in the Room, and Butterfly Effect continue to draw impressive daily streams. His 2024 total of 8.41 billion streams, up from 6.14 billion last year, highlights his enduring popularity, and his catalog continues to perform exceptionally well.

8 (5) Peso Pluma – 9.38 billion streams

Mexican singer Peso Pluma solidified his position as the leader of the new generation of Corridos Tumbados artists, amassing 9.38 billion streams in 2024, though down slightly from his 10.54 billion in 2023.

Génesis from 2023 remains his top album, with 5.4 billion streams, making it the #1 Mexican release. His 2024 album Éxodo quickly rose to 2.9 billion streams, ranking as the 4th biggest Regional Mexican album of all time. Peso Pluma’s catalog continues to dominate, with 15 to 40 tracks charting every week in the Mexican top 200 throughout the year.

Interestingly, his cousin and collaborator Tito Double P has experienced a breakout year of his own, already pacing at 2 billion streams per quarter, claiming 20 entries on Mexican top 200 this week including songs at 1, 2, 5, 6, and 10. This rapid rise reminds us of Peso Pluma‘s own early success, and both artists are poised to be major players in 2025.

7 (9) Kanye West – 9.67 billion streams

The most cancelled artist of all-time remains just as popular as ever. Kanye West (aka Ye) scored 9.67 billion streams in 2024, up from 6.94 billion last year. His 39.3% year-on-year increase is the largest among the top 15 artists from 2023.

West’s 2024 success was boosted by the release of Vultures 1 and Vultures 2, collaborative albums with Ty Dolla Sign under the pseudonym ¥$. These albums combine for 2 billion streams so far, with the track Carnival becoming one of the biggest hip-hop hits of the year, earning 658 million streams.

In addition to his new material, West’s legacy catalog continues to perform well. In the final day of the year, songs like Heartless, Flashing Lights, Gold Digger, Violent Crimes, All Falls Down, Runaway, Ni**as in Paris, Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1, Stronger, and I Wonder all recorded over half a million streams apiece. Over 50 of his tracks are averaging 100,000 streams per day. Even without new releases, Kanye West’s catalog would still rank among the top 20 artists year after year.

6 (16) Ariana Grande – 10.03 billion streams

Starting the year with a daily pace of 17 million streams, Ariana Grande was on track for another 6 billion year, following 2023’s 6.23 billion total. However, she spent much of the year fueling these results and ultimately surpassed 10 billion annual streams for the first time in her career.

She kicked off 2024 with the release of the single Yes, And?, a US chart-topper, followed by her seventh studio album Eternal Sunshine in March. Alongside it, she dropped the single We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love), which also topped the US charts and gained strong lasting appeal. It finished the year with 1.13 billion streams, making it the #9 single globally in 2024. The album itself closed the year with 3.67 billion streams, ranking as the 5th most streamed of the year.

Furthermore, Grande starred in the remake of Wicked, also recording its soundtrack, which is approaching 300 million streams while performing strongly in the pure sales field. Her back catalog continues to shine, with albums like Dangerous Woman, My Everything, Thank U, Next, and Positions racking up over 2 million streams daily.

5 (19) Billie Eilish – 12.00 billion streams

Another success story of 2024, Billie Eilish returned to the top with the release of her third album Hit Me Hard and Soft. The track Birds of a Feather topped Sabrina Carpenter‘s Espresso to become the most streamed song of the year on the final day, amassing 1.775 billion streams. Wildflower (over 700 million), Lunch (over 650 million), and Chihiro (over 600 million) contributed to the album’s outstanding consistency. With 5.1 billion streams, Hit Me Hard and Soft ranks as the #2 album of the year, with the potential to overtake Taylor Swift‘s The Tortured Poets Department in the future.

Eilish‘s debut EP Don’t Smile at Me, her classic album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, and predecessor Happier Than Ever each continue to rack up 4 million streams per day. Even Happier Than Ever, once viewed as a disappointment, has now reached 6.2 billion streams to date.

Eilish‘s 99.7% increase from last year’s 6.01 billion is the best year-on-year growth among the 28 artists who topped 5 billion streams in 2023. In early 2025, she is set to surpass Post Malone and enter the all-time top 10 most streamed artists, with far fewer songs than anyone else in the top 25.

In fact, Billie Eilish boasts a total of 81 recordings on Spotify, 16 of which are remixes, live performances, or tracks under 30 seconds – which don’t trigger a play count. Even with this reduced pool of songs, she soared to an astounding 12.0 billion streams in 2024, averaging 148 million streams per available recording. This remarkable consistency underscores her appeal.

4 (2) Bad Bunny – 12.08 billion streams

We now reach the fab four of streaming, the artists who ranked 1-2-3-4 last year and also occupy the same positions in the all-time list. The ranking has evolved, though.

Reggaeton icon Bad Bunny drops from #2 to #4 after dominating 2020, 2021, and 2022. His annual streams have fallen to 12.08 billion from 16.37 billion last year (and 19.20 billion in 2022). His year-on-year drop of 26.2% is the most significant among the 24 artists who topped 5 billion in both 2023 and 2024. While these numbers might sound negative, it’s worth noting that after reaching such a peak, a drop is somewhat natural.

In absolute terms, Bad Bunny‘s figures are still mind-blowing, especially since he hit 12 billion streams with no new album, releasing only 3 singles. Un Verano Sin Ti (2022) became the most streamed album of all time on Spotify this year, surpassing Ed Sheeran‘s Divide, with over 18 billion streams to date. It ranked as the 10th most streamed album of the year overall, 1st among Latin albums, adding 3.03 billion streams, while Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Mañana (2023) accumulated nearly 5 billion streams to date.

Bad Bunny‘s new album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, is set to drop in January 5 2025, but the reception is uncertain following the underperformance of lead single El Clúb.

3 (4) Drake – 12.11 billion streams

2024 was a year of headlines for Drake, albeit not in a positive light. He was dethroned from the top of Spotify’s all-time list by Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar established himself as the “big me” of hip-hop in the eye of rap aficionados after a fierce exchange of diss tracks, overshadowing Drake.

Perhaps due to this, 2024 marked the first year since 2012 that Drake did not release a new album, mixtape, or collaborative project. He teased an album with PartyNextDoor in the summer, but it has yet to materialize. His 3-track EP 100 Gigs made little impact, with no song reaching 100 million streams.

Despite this, Drake continues to perform impressively, amassing 12.11 billion streams, down from 14.03 billion last year. His catalog remains robust, with 11 albums still generating millions of streams every day. His last release, For All The Dogs, and its predecessor Her Loss each garnered more than 3.4 billion streams. While the days of Views and Scorpion seem far behind, Drake‘s extensive catalog secures his status as a streaming powerhouse.

2 (3) The Weeknd – 13.27 billion streams

Since the release of Blinding Lights, The Weeknd has been on an incredible run. His songs might not break records immediately, but their staying power propels them to incredible numbers over time. With 13.27 billion streams in 2024, he ranks #2 for the year, down slightly from 14.14 billion in 2023. This marks a career-best ranking for The Weeknd, after previously placing #3 in 2015, 2017, and 2023.

Whether collaborating with Blackpink’s Jennie and actress Lily-Rose Depp on One of the Girls (1.5 billion streams), Metro Boomin on Creepin’ (1.5 billion streams), Brazilian star Anitta on São Paulo (115 million streams in just over a month), Madonna on Popular (1 billion streams), or Playboi Carti on Timeless (nearing 400 million streams, still top 10 globally), The Weeknd continues to collect massive streams.

With 26 tracks surpassing 1 billion streams each, and 4 of the 10 biggest songs of all-time (Blinding Lights, Save Your Tears, Starboy, and Die For You), his success is one of a kind.

Albums like Starboy (15.8 billion streams), After Hours (13.6 billion), and Beauty Behind the Madness (10.1 billion) continue to perform impressively. Starboy was the 9th most streamed album of 2024, adding 3.1 billion streams this year. These three albums rank as the #1, #1 and #2 most streamed LPs from their respective release years.

1 (1) Taylor Swift – 28.21 billion streams

After breaking every record in 2023 with 29.10 billion streams, Taylor Swift maintained her position at the top with 28.21 billion streams in 2024. Like last year, she averaged over 50,000 streams per minute, every minute, all year long. To put it another way, Spotify users listened to her music for a staggering 309 million minutes every day, assuming an average of 4 minutes per song.

Beyond her record-breaking Eras Tour, the major highlight this year was the release of The Tortured Poets Department. The album became the biggest debut of all time on Spotify, reaching 1.17 billion streams in its first week, and finished the year with an annual-best 6.62 billion streams.

Legacy-wise, Swift’s catalog continues to outshine everyone. Lover (2019) held its #6 position from 2023 among the most streamed albums of 2024, receiving 3.28 billion streams. Midnights (#18, 2.52 billion), Folklore (#19, 2.48 billion), and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (#21, 2.41 billion) were also huge. Reputation (2017) cleared 2 billion streams for the year, and her Taylor’s Versions of Red, Fearless, and Speak Now, along with Evermore and the original 1989, all surpassed a billion streams.

While her peak may eventually come to an end as she recently dropping below 50 million daily streams for the first time since March 2023, Swift has proven time and again that these “slower” periods – which are still higher than anyone else – are often the calm before the storm.
