Official Global Top Sellers of 2004 – with Sales

#15 Anastacia – Anastacia – 3,700,000

Before the internet age there were still various powerhouses in Europe that weren’t selling in the US. The most atypical of them was undoubtedly Anastacia who happens to be American. Her albums Not That Kind and Freak of Nature sold over 8 million units combined in Europe without ever entering the Top 200 in her native country.

After fighting against breast cancer she returned in 2004 with the LP Anastacia. Hitting #1 all over Europe and in Australia on the back of the mega hit Left Outside Alone, the album shipped 3,7 million units globally, once against without charting in the US.

If this album proved an impressive consistency for the artist with a third album in a row selling past 3 million copies in Europe alone, its follow up Heavy Rotation was going to become one of the biggest flops of all-time, although this is a different story…
