Official Global Top Sellers of 2004 – with Sales

#19 Utada Hikaru – Single Collection Vol 13,400,000

Utada Hikaru is well known for holding the highest selling album of all-time in Japan with her 1999 debut album First Love which quickly shipped over 8 million copies. It is one of four 3-million selling albums to her name.

The last one was her first best of, Single Collection Vol 1. After debuting with more than 1,4 million units sold in a week as per Oricon, the set improved its tally to 2,6 million copies scanned in Japan. Additional shipments and sales overseas push its total to an impressive 3,4 million units for the year 2004, good enough for the global #19 spot. It is the only Japanese record to chart inside the annual Top 50.
