Official Global Top Sellers of 2004 – with Sales

#12 Black Eyed Peas – Elephunk – 4,400,000

The breakthrough album by the band featuring Fergie and Will.i.am arrived in June 2003 and reached its full force in 2004. It was the 29th highest seller of the former year thanks to the smash Where Is The Love? which topped the UK charts for 6 weeks. The Black Eyed Peas moved from one-hit wonders to true hit makers from the end of 2003 and during 2004 though, thanks to follow up singles Shut Up, Hey Mama and Let’s Get It Started.

While one-hit wonders do not sell albums, hit machines do, so once their status changed in 2004 the album reached a new peak in the UK at #3 and in the US at #14 while also charting for 120 consecutive weeks there. It was  #1 in Australia and #2 in France.

Upcoming albums Monkey Business and The E.N.D. became the #4 and #2 respective best sellers of their release year which both helped to confirm the Peas‘ ability to record smash hits.
