YouTube Most Streamed Artists of 2024
Welcome to the fourth installment of our YouTube yearly rankings, a tradition that began in 2020. While we had to skip 2023 due to insufficient data from YouTube, we’re thrilled to be back with the rankings for 2024!
Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake and Bad Bunny have dominated Spotify this year, but who reigned supreme on YouTube?
Although YouTube doesn’t generate as much revenue for the music industry as Spotify or Apple Music, it remains a significant player, especially in specific markets. With its unparalleled diversity, artists from every corner of the globe feature among the most-viewed of 2024. Let’s dive into the rankings!
The YouTube landscape in 2024
As the world’s largest platform by user base, YouTube boasts 2.7 billion active users as of early 2024. While it serves a vast array of content beyond music, its paid service, YouTube Music (often bundled with YouTube Premium), has grown significantly, crossing 100 million subscribers this year.
YouTube Charts also provides invaluable insights into global and regional artist performances. This ranking covers major global players and domestic stars from 2024.
A few notes:
- Numbers include views of unofficial videos using Content ID.
- Features are counted in most cases but not universally, so discrepancies with our Streaming Masters articles may occur.
- Children’s content like BabyBus Nursery Rhymes, Pinkfong, and Mundo Bita as well as record labels are excluded due to their distinct nature.
YouTube most streamed artists of 2024 by country
United States
Latino artists are making waves in the U.S., with Peso Pluma becoming the first non-English artist to top the rankings, dethroning YoungBoy NBA, now at #2. Latin acts like Fuerza Regida (#5) and Bad Bunny (#9) also shine.
Hip-hop remains dominant, claiming half of the top 10 spots: Future (#3), Eminem (#6), Kendrick Lamar (#7), and Drake (#8) lead the charge. Country megastar Morgan Wallen (#10) and Billboard’s Artist of the Year Taylor Swift (#4) round out the list.
Numbers remain extraordinary, with the entire top 10 eclipsing a billion views.
Canada
Canada’s higher love for pop is evident with Taylor Swift at #1 and Eminem at #2. They lead is also pretty solid. However, the Punjabi music scene has surged, led by Karan Aujla (#3). He made history last year when his song Wavy became the first Punjabi track to enter the top 10 of the Canadian Hot 100.
Other Punjabi stars like Arjan Dhillon (#4), Diljit Dosanjh (#6), and Sidhu Moose Wala (#7) feature prominently. The last is Bollywood singer Arijit Singh at #8 which is the top Hindi artist.
The Weeknd (#5) and Drake (#9) represent Canada, while Post Malone completes the top 10.
Australia
Taylor Swift is #1 in Australia too where she has also been hugely successful for long, 2024 has definitely not been any exception. Just like in Canada is she followed by Eminem.
There’s a good mix of artists here from R&B legends The Weeknd (#3) and Chris Brown (#7) to pop powerhouses Ed Sheeran (#4) and Ariana Grande (#9).
Country music has also gotten bigger down under as of recent. This is highlighted by Luke Combs at #10 plus Post Malone (#6) to a degree.
The highly YouTube oriented Indian diaspora in Australia is big too, shooting Arijit Singh up to #5.
United Kingdom
In the UK is the top 2 also the same as in Canada and Australia, although the positions are swapped with Eminem on top followed by Taylor Swift. Ed Sheeran is definitely no stranger here either at #3.
#4 is UK rap crew D-Block Europe, mostly known elsewhere for their feature on 2023 club hit Prada. Another UK rapper which made waves Internationally is Central Cee at #8.
The rest of the top 10 is made up of The Weeknd (#5) and pop divas Rihanna (#6), Lady Gaga (#9) and Ariana Grande (#10). Arijit Singh sneaks in here as well at #7.
Germany
Arguably no German female act have dominated as much as Ayliva since Helene Fischer. The singer’s 2024 album In Liebe was the most streamed album of the year on Spotify in Germany, 3rd on the same ranking ranking was no other than her previous effort Schwarzes Herz.
The rest of the list is mostly German rappers like Apache 207 (#2), Bonez MC (#4), Sido (#5), Luciano (#6), RAF Camora (#7 + Austrian actually) and lastly Kontra K at #9. It is nothing new they dominate.
The top International act is also a rapper and no other than Eminem at #3, he’s followed by Linkin Park at #8 which also had a very good year in Germany with The Emptiness Machine topping charts for 11 weeks. Rock and Metal in general is strong in Germany as Rammstein makes the list too at #10.
Poland
On top in Poland by far is rapper/producer Gibbs, whom surprisingly didn’t release much in 2024. His success here is mainly due to hits from his 2023 smash album Safe refusing to slow down.
Polish rap is definitely the strongest genre with names such as Kizo (#3), Szpaku (#4), Jonatan (#5), Pro8l3m (#8) and Young Leosia (#10) all present in the top 10.
Sanah comes in at #2, the Pop / Indie singer has been incredibly successful for long in Poland, topping this ranking in both 2021 and 2022.
Other singers present here are Skolim (#6), Sylwia Grzeszczak (#7) and Bletka (#9).
Russia
Numbers in Russia remain reasonably good in spite of YouTube’s recent complications with local authorities. If it will still be the case next year looks less and less likely. But let’s focus on the artists.
The top one this year is pop singer Islam Itlyashev whom also topped the list in 2022. he’s followed by the very popular rap duo Miyagi & Andy Panda. Other rap artists also made the list like Macan (#6), Egor Kreed and A.V.G. (#9).
The top and only female artist on the list is Russian/Ukrainian singer Anna Asti at #3. Although she makes the list twice as part of pop group Artik & Asti (#5)
Uzbek singer Jaloliddin Ahmadaliyev, who mind you has not translated his songs into Russian might be the biggest surprise at #4. We’ll talk more about him later in the article.
Romania
Romania, in spite of its population of roughly 19 million people remain Europe’s 2nd largest YouTube market. It goes without saying that the usage per capita in this country is enormous. Leading here is Tzancă Uraganu.
He operates within the Manele genre. This music style fuses traditional folk sounds with pop, similarly to Turbo-folk elsewhere in the Balkans. And it’s extremely popular, as the rest of the top 10 are all Manele artists.
Türkiye
Now let’s look at the largest YouTube market in Europe, Türkiye.
On top here with well over a billion views is pop singer and celebrity Semicenk, the 26-year-old stands out as most artists in the top 10 have been active for decades.
Sezen Aksu at #2 highlight this very well, she debuted in the 70’s and has been a staple of the Turkish music scene since. İbrahim Tatlıses (#3) is even older and also a legend within the country. Müslüm Gürses (#6), Ebru Yaşar (#7), Ebru Gündeş (#9) and Ahmet Kaya (#10) also falls into this category.
Lvbel C5 at #5 is the only rapper making the top 10.
France
OM 3 – 7 PSG. As every year, the most viewed artists on YouTube in France look like a Classico.
Jul retains his top spot in France as he has done every year since the start of the decade. The rapper from Marseille shows no sign of slowing down. Also from the Southern city are Alonzo (#8) and Soolking (#9, born in Algeria, signed and launched in Marseille).
The rest of the top 10 is filled with rappers raised in the Parisian region with African roots. While his popularity was vanishing for several years, Gims made a stunning comeback in 2024 thanks to hits like Spider and Sois Pas Timide (7 weeks #1 each). He ranks second. His brother Dadju remains strong too at 5.
Rappers with Congolese origins are in fact in full force once again. On top of Gims and Dadju, Ninho (#3), SDM (#7), and Tiakola (#10) also make the list. Their fresh sonorities coupled with the popularity of rap music across the youth also power Gazo and Werenoi in the upper end of the ranking.
Italy
The public has definitely spoken. Neapolitan rapper Geolier somehow managed to lose the famous San Remo contest in 2024 despite getting 60% of the public vote, highlighting his insane popularity in the country as of recent.
He easily clears the board on YouTube with more than twice the views of runner up, Annalisa at #2. She was also Geolier’s runner up in the San Remo contest too ironically enough.
Another Italian success story this year was female rapper Anna who blew up big time and dominated the summer with her album Vera Baddie.
Italian rap is well represented further down too with Sfera Ebbasta (#4), Lazza (#7), Baby Gang (#8) and Tony Effe (#10).
Pop is not doing bad either with Ultimo (#5), Angelina Mango (#6) and Mahmood (#9) all in the top 10.
Spain
Spain has for many years now been a great market for Latin American artists due to their shared language. This is highlighted well by the #1 artist here, Karol G. The Colombian singer and only female act on the list didn’t release an album this year. Although her single Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido was incredibly successful, spending 16 weeks at #1 in the country!
The top Spanish act is rapper JC Reyes at #2, followed by another rapper Morad (#4) and singer Omar Montes (#9).
Other Latin Americans here are Anuel AA (#3), Myke Towers (#5), Bad Bunny (#6), Rauw Alejandro (#7), Feid (#8) and Maluma (#10)
Let’s now see how these are doing on their continent, starting with the Caribbean…
Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic well known elsewhere as the home of several tropical genres such as Bachata and Merengue. Which are still very popular here as shown by Romeo Santos at #2 and his band Aventura at #5.
What is currently booming though is not that. It’s rap fused with Dembow beats. Local artists operating within this movement are Rochy RD (#1), Jey One (#6), Donaty (#7), Armenazzy (#8), NTG (#9) and El Alfa (#10)
Reggaetón is also very popular led by Anuel AA (#3) and Bad Bunny (#4).
Jamaica
Jamaica is another country known for its genres, the big ones here are Reggae and Dancehall. Although acts like Bob Marley got very successful globally are these genre’s popularity in their home country on a whole other level.
Leading here by more than twice the views of #2 is Chronic Law, he’s followed by Masicka, Vybz Kartel, Squash and Skippa. All of them Reggae / Dancehall artists, and so is the rest of the top 10!
Mexico
It should go without saying that Mexico is by far the biggest Spanish speaking market on YouTube. Although when I started this series was the top 10 mainly made up of Reggaetón from elsewhere in the Americas and only 2 acts on the list were even Mexican.
In just a few years hasn’t Regional Mexican music only reclaimed the entire top 10, but it’s also smashing across Latin communities from the Texas to Bolivia!
The leader of this “crusade” is corridos tumbados singer Peso Pluma which entered the scene in full at the start of 2023. He’s been so big that even his family is blowing up. His cousin and songwriter Tito Double P just made the ranking as well at #10, watch out for him in the 2025 ranking!
Regional Mexican singers dominate the entire ranking as mentioned with Junior H (#2), Natanael Cano (#4), Luis R. Conriquez (#6), Óscar Maydon (#7) and Carín León (#8).
The umbrella genre is also known for its bandas. These are also present with Mexican-American group Fuerza Regida (#3), Grupo Firme (#5) and Julión Álvarez y su Norteño Banda (#9).
Colombia
While far from the largest Latin market by any means has Colombia been a massive exporter of their artists in recent decades, especially within the Reggaetón genre. These acts are also highly popular in their home country too with Blessd at #1, followed by Feid and Karol G.
Reggaetón from elsewhere is also highly popular led by Bad Bunny (#6) and Anuel AA (#9).
The home grown Vallenato genre is also still very popular, especially among older audiences as shown by local legends Diomendes Díaz (#4) and Binomio de Oro de América (#7).
Peru
On top in Peru is Corazón Serrano, this local Cumbia group has been around since the 90’s in various forms. Peruvian Cumbia in general is very big with more artists making the top 10 including Grupo 5 (#3), La Única Tropical (#6) and Armonía 10 (#6). The genre is notably a lot stronger on YouTube compared to platforms like Spotify.
Reggaetón is big too, led by Bad Bunny (#2), Karol G (#4), Anuel AA (#5) and Feid (#7) and Rauw Alejandro (#9).
Chile
Chile has also grown into a big exporter of Reggaetón as of recent. The #1 artist here, Cris MJ along with FloyyMenor were responsible for 2024’s biggest Latin hit, Gata Only.
Jere Klein at #2 also made waves recently. More Chileans include Jairo Vera (#6), Lucky Brown (#7) and Pablo Chill-E (#9).
The usual International Reggaetón acts are big in Chile as well with Anuel AA in the lead (#3) followed by Karol G (#4), Bad Bunny (#5), Feid (#8) and Myke Towers (#10).
Argentina
María Becerra tops the Argentine list by ease this year too, with a new album scheduled this year she is likely to keep her dominant trajectory in 2025.
Local rapper Luck Ra takes the 2nd spot. Although rap is not what has pushed him this high up the ranking, it’s his switch to Cuarteto. This local genre has surged in popularity in recent years as shown by La K’Onga (#3), Q’ Lokura (#4), Ke Personajes (#8).
Similarly to Country music in the US has it gotten very lucrative for many artists, rappers Tiago PZK (#6) and Emanero (#9) have also jumped on the train to various degrees.
With a booming local scene has Argentina gotten increasingly hard to break into, the only foreign artist here is Anuel AA at #10.
Brazil
Funk Carioca, Brazilian Funk, or locally known simply as Funk. This very distant cousin of Hip-hop goes under many names and has taken the country by storm the past decade or so. The top act out of 2024, MC Ryan SP, also tops this list.
Other Funk acts here include MC IG (#8) and MC PH (#10). All 3 featured on 2023 monster hit Let’s Go 4 which spent 14 weeks at #1 on Spotify in Brazil.
Sertanejo artists are still making up the majority of the list as usual though with Henrique & Juliano in the lead at #1. They are followed by Gusttavo Lima (#3), Ana Castela (#4), Marilia Mendonça (#5) and Ze Neto & Cristiano (#6).
Brazilian Gospel is also represented by Fabiana Anastácio (#7), and so is Hip-hop with Filipe Ret (#9).
Japan
Japan, as usual is very different from other countries. It’s the only market this year topped by a Rock act, Mrs. Green Apple. The band was also Spotify’s most streamed artist in Japan. More Rock acts feature further down too including Kenshi Yonezu (#6), Back Number (#7), Official Hige Dandism (#8) and Vaundy (#9).
Japanese Pop is big too led by Yoasobi (#2), Snow Man (#3) and Ado (#5).
The top Japanese hit of the year, Bling-Bang-Bang-Born belonged to none though. This song which served as an opening theme for the Mashle anime was made by Hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts, they come in at #4 here.
K-pop group Twice ends the list at #10 as the top foreign artist.
South Korea
On top in South Korea are NewJeans, the 5 member girl group has taken K-pop industry by storm since their 2022 debut. More girl groups smash in this market too including Aespa (#3), Ive (#5), (G)I-dle (#6), QWER (#8) and Le Sserafim (#9)
K-pop male groups are less represented. Although Rock group Day6 takes the 2nd Spot following a surge in popularity as they returned from Korean military service. K-pop veterans BigBang also makes the list at #7 despite no new material released in years.
The top solo artist is unsurprisingly IU at #4. She is followed by Taeyeon (#10).
Taiwan
Jay Chou topping the ranking in Taiwan might be the most unsurprising thing in the whole article. He’s been dominating there and the Chinese speaking world as a whole since the early 2000’s and no one is seemingly catching up to him anytime soon. A record breaking 890,000 online user lined up to buy tickets to his Taipei Arena concert that was held in December 2024.
He is followed by K-pop group (G)I-dle at #2. The 2nd biggest group is not Chinese speaking either, it’s Japanese duo Yoasobi at #5. Local groups are also present here with rap group Nine One One (#6) in the lead with rock band Mayday right behind (#7).
The rest of the top 10 is dominated by Mandopop singers such as En (#3), G.E.M. (#4), JJ Lin (#8), Eric Chou (#9) and Cheng Huan (#10).
Thailand
Years pass but Monkaen Kaenkoon remains untouchable. The Mor lam music king is now 51 but continues to lead every year since the start of the decade.
In the other side, Saran is still only 19 but the rapper has built an amazing following since winning the Rapper 2020 Civil War contest when he was still a teenager. Local pop star Book Supakarn complete a very diverse top 3.
Vietnam
YouTube star Hiếu Organ dominates in Vietnam, with a strong lead over star singer and actor Sơn Tùng M-TP. Local rapper Hieuthuhai completes another varied top 3.
It’s worth noting that the top 10 is completely new compared to the 2022 list, which is almost an anomaly on YouTube lists. Also, the absence of massive K-pop successes this year conclude with no international artist ranked.
Philippines
The 8-girls group Bini has been rising so much in the Philippines since their 2021 debut that they managed to edge out Taylor Swift, who used to reign supreme in this country. She is still runner up with gigantic figures.
Arguably the most famous artist with Filipino roots, Bruno Mars, comes at 3, after an outstanding year. Rapper Hev Abi, still only 22, exploded this year, edging out Zack Tabudlo as the biggest solo local artist. Ariana Grande impresses too at #5 overall.
Indonesia
Shinta Arsinta recorded a banner year on Indonesian YouTube, coming out of nowhere to claim 864 million views. Javanese pop biggest star Denny Caknan is a solid feature in this ranking year after year, now up to #2. Another familiar face is Happy Asmara, at #4 in 2024.
In-between is one of the youngest names in this article, as 16-year-old Niken Salindry topped half a billion views to chart at #3. Bruno Mars ranks 5th overall, the highest placement among international artists.
Malaysia
Malaysian lists are always very interesting due to their mix of K-Pop, Bollywood, Chinese, Western and local stars. In this insanely challenging environment, Bruno Mars emerges as the winner with 150 million views.
A trio of Indian stars chart high too, with Alka Yagnik (#2), Udit Narayan (#4), and Anirudh Ravichander (#7). Siti Nurhaliza at #3 is the leading local artist. Chinese legend Jay Chou rounds out the top 5.
International stars Taylor Swift (#6), The Weeknd (#8) and Ariana Grande (#9) confirm their unparalleled global appeal, while Blackpink still manage to sneak in as the highest-ranked K-pop artist despite their low activity this year.
India
Maybe more than the names, the highlight on Indian lists stands in the numbers. In 2022, the top 5 was exactly the sames with Bollywood playback stars Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Arijit Singh, Kumar Sanu, and Shilpi Raj coming in 1-5 positions, in this order. But numbers increased even more, from 44b to 54b for these five artists only.
Alka Yagnik is especially impressive, as to celebrate the 45th anniversary of her career she passes the 15 billion mark for the first time.
The only alteration compared to the 2022 list, apart from slight ordering changes in 6-9 positions, is the drop out of Jubin Nautiyal from the 10th spot, replaced by Sonu Nigam.
Bangladesh
The biggest Hindi and Bengali language stars are in full force in Bangladesh, with Arijit Singh repeating at the top with nearly a billion views.
A couple of local stars manage to compete with the biggest Indian icons. YouTube sensation Niloy Khan Sagor charts at #6, while traditional singer Pritom Hasan lands in at #8.
Pakistan
The same four names as in India occupy the first four positions in Pakistan, albeit Arijit Singh is ahead of Udit Narayan here. Punjabi rappers are very strong in this market, with Sidhu Moose Wala leading the way once again, three years after his passing.
Uzbekistan
We introduce the ranking from Uzbekistan this year due to the extreme growth of this market – from 1.49 billion views for their top 10 artists in 2022 (31st market) to 4.13 billion this year (14th).
Leading is local superstar Jaloliddin Ahmadaliyev with 749 million views. Xamdam Sobirov is a strong second at 656 million, while 50-year-old legend Ozoda Nursaidova, who faced years of ban from former regimes, continues to impress as the highest ranked female artist.
Saudi Arabia
We enter the Middle East region the same way as we did a couple of years ago as Abdul Majeed Abdullah maintains his dominance. Fourty years into his career, the renowed singer is still going just as strong as ever.
Obviously, Saudi Arabia is one more conservative country musically speaking, with artists at 1-2-3-4-6 repeating their presence from 2022. Among novelties, the highlight is Alka Yagnik who represents the strong Indian diaspora in this area with a #7 position.
Iraq
Rising star Sayed Faked shoots all the way up to #1 thanks to his dominant role on Iraqi’s YouTube. He topped former leader Basim al-Karbalaei, the star shi’ite eulogy reciter. Another religious figure completes the podium with Hussaini reciter Khader Abbas.
Syrian icon Assala Nasri leads among female artists at #4 with nearly 200 million views.
Egypt
After climbed to the top in 2022, Essam Saasa confirmed his new role as Egypt number one star. Another youngster is trailing him in the person of Eslam Kabonga.
Local heavyweights Ahmed Saad and Amr Diab remain strong too, at #3 and #5, respectively. At #4, the top female artist is Assala Nasri, just like in Iraq.
Algeria
Djalil Palermo loses his crown in Algeria, although he still posted a huge year with 264 million views and a #3 ranking. The new leader is no other than his former runner up, Didine Canon 16.
Newcomer Cheb Hichem Tgv makes a big splash on charts. Fueled by massive hits like Fatou Liyam (66 million) and Allo Oui (46 million)
Cheba Fifi and Cheba Warda represent the female singers, while no international artist makes the list.
Kenya
Diamond Platnumz has no competition in Kenya. He is #1 once again, and again the only one with more than 100 million views. Harmonize climbs to #2 (from #4 in 2022), disloging Rayvanny. The top 4 is completed by Zuchu, the lone female artist.
Next up is Israel Mbonyi who posted the two biggest hits of the year, Nina Siri and Nitaamini.
Unlike 2022 when Nigerian superstar Burna Boy charted, no foreign artist managed to reach this ranking. Ayra Starr was the closest at #12.
Nigeria
Speaking about the hugely successful Nigerian artists, they naturally fullfil their local list. In a very close race between the biggest national names, Asake repeats on top ahead of Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy.
Not as global, Kizz Daniel and Seyi Vibez remain safe bets in Nigeria, as shown by their #5 and #6 positions. Rema, known worldwide for the super smash Calm Down, completes the pack of artists over 50 million view thanks to new hits Benin Boys and Ozeba. Ayra Starr is expectedly the most successful female singer, at #9 overall.
South Africa
American R&B is huge in South Africa, and there nobody comes close to Chris Brown. He is often the highest ranked international artist in African countries, although that’s not enough to be top 10. In Cape Town’s country, it’s more than enough, as he is the overall leader.
Drake at #3 and Beyoncé at #8 – highest female – remain very strong too. Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna too, albeit just outside the top 10.
The local scene is buyant as well, with Amapiano leaders repeating their presence. These include Kabza De Small, Master KG, and DJ Maphorisa.
YouTube most streamed artists of 2024 – Global ranking
Alka Yagnik is unstoppable! She has occupied the top spot globally every single year since 2020, and 2024 was her biggest year yet with a record breaking 19.1 billion views registered.
She is followed by the usual suspects Udit Narayan and Arijit Singh who complete the top 3.
Indian artists occupy the entire top 5, 8 of the top 10, and 19 of the top 50, it is no secret that India which in 2024 became the most populated country in the World also remains YouTube’s biggest market by a longshot.
Although Latin music is arguably as strong despite not being as top loaded, In total are there 21 Spanish speaking artists in the top 50. The king himself Bad Bunny still ranks first among them (#6 overall) in spite of a not so active year.
2023’s mega sensation Peso Pluma is not far behind though at #10, he notably ranks #1 this year in both his native Mexico and the US!
He’s at the forefront of the Regional Mexican scene which has blown up like crazy on Spotify the last 2 years in Mexico, the US and elsewhere. The trend is seemingly similar on YouTube. A total of 7 acts from this umbrella genre are in the top 50 against 0 in 2022. These include Fuerza Regida at #18 (#1 group this year), Junior H at #24 and Carin León at #27.
Reggaetón is also strong still with Karol G at #12, Anuel AA at #16 and Feid at #22. Shakira has not slowed down either at #23.
The top English speaking act this year is unsurprisingly Taylor Swift at #14. Although the fact that she can’t get higher in spite of being Spotify’s most streamed artist almost every day in 2024 truly speaks how much stronger regions like South Asia and Latin America are on YouTube.
In total there are only 8 English speaking acts in the top 50 with the aforementioned Swift in the lead. The Weeknd is right behind at #15, Eminem is #17, Bruno Mars #19, Ariana Grande #25, Lady Gaga #29, Billie Eilish #31 and Justin Bieber #40.
The last category represented is K-Pop with BTS and Blackpink neck to neck at #41 and #42 respectively. It might look like the genre has truly fallen from its peak as both of these made the top 10 in previous years. Although it could have more to do with inactivity from the groups and more focus on solo careers. We have yet to see any others make the top 50 still except Twice in 2021. Speaking of…
