France Best Selling Albums Ever:
Update Part 7 (20-1)

#4 – 29,000 UNITS

IAM – L’Ecole du Micro d’Argent (1997) : 1,270,000

During the 90s, the Paris-based rap duo Suprême NTM was huge but still never managed to reach the heights of Marseille-based group IAM. Two decades passed but the situation remains pretty much the same. Maybe the most unexpected album inside the Top 10 of our ranking, legendary album L’Ecole du Micro d’Argent, largely tagged as the best French rap album ever, performed insanely well in 2016. Huge in 2012 for its 15th anniversary and in 2013 thanks to the band new album at the time, charting 43 weeks combined, the 1997 record then slowed down a lot by leaving the ranking during two full years until the end of 2015.  In 2016, it charted for 45 weeks in the Comprehensive Chart with a strong #57 peak. The album will not only be turning 20 in 1997 but IAM is also going on Tour to celebrate this LP milestone so expect outstanding results once again from the French Rap godfathers.
