France Best Selling Albums Ever:
Update Part 7 (20-1)

#9 – 22,000 UNITS

Nirvana – MTV Unplugged in New York (1994) : 1,120,000

We can’t speak about Nirvana catalog sales by mentioning Nevermind only. Obviously, this album has an overwhelming weight in the band discography. Its catalog appeal is visible on a larger scale yet as 3 albums sell incredible amounts every year on the back of its songs – the original album, the eponymous 2002 compilation and this live set, MTV Unplugged in New York. During the first 26 weeks of the year, the studio album and the live album combined for 27 weeks charted inside the Catalog ranking, covering all different 26 weeks. In other words, depending on which one is the cheapest in a specific week, purchasers decide which one to pick interchangeably in order to get their big songs. As Smells Like Teen Spirit isn’t part of MTV Unplugged in New York while The Man Who Sold the World or About A Girl are not on Nevermind, both sets keep on going strong.
