Call Me Maybe was an out of the blue smash, quickly becoming one of the biggest hits of its decade. It also pushes the parent album Kiss up to 7.8 million equivalent album sales.

Obviously, following up such a monster is near impossible. She still got two more good sized hits, Good Time and I Really Like You.

The latter greatly contributes in sending Emotion to multi-million sales.

The rest of her discography has much weaker results in spite of her great success in Asia. Overall, Carly Rae Jepsen stands at 11.36 million units.

Singles CSPC results

The list is compiled in album equivalent sales generated by each song. Therefore, these figures are not merged units of singles formats. Instead, it includes weighted sales of the song’s physical single, download, ringtone and streaming as well as its share among sales of all albums on which it is featured.

Love Carly and her music!

Tommy

Such a talented artist, the collapse in sales was inevitable I suppose from Call me maybe but I wish she had a bigger cult following that could rack her up decent units.

ojd

emotion, one of the best pure pop album of 2010’s and criminally underrated

Togetic

The article is incorrect, many songs are considered orphan like Cut to the Feeling and the Emotion Side B tracks which should all be part of the Emotion era, which would raise its total to almost 2.5M units. And Dedicated + Dedicated Side B should be counted towards the Dedicated era. Also “Party for One” is counted as orphan despite appearing on Dedicated. All this would contribute to pushing the Dedicated era to over 500k units. Both would be more respectable totals that show she actually has managed to create a cult fanbase.

matt

I think you’re just thinking of what would look better units wise.

Both Dedicated side B and Emotion Side B charted as separate efforts on Billboard and international charts, and are thus certified as such. They’re not the same album, they’re different projects, one being the original album and the Side B pieces being outtakes from the original. It would be sort of unfair to count them as one.

Can you please do Sia and Avril Lavigne??

matt
Cameron Tracy

Can you do Kesha next? And Nicki Minaj with Hillary duff, and Tiffany darwish as an 80s artist for my request since 2017 no more 60s artists or 70s just 2000s and onwards I’ve been a huge fan for 6 years now

matt

I think that they’ve previously mentioned that Nicki Minaj isn’t worth studying due to her large discography with a lot of early 2010s songs whose digital sales are hard to estimate.

The results will also probably be sort of disapponting in comparison to the amount of work it takes to analyze each song released by her.

Tommy

Agreed, but imo she is such a major artist that it feels weird to be missing, similarly to Kanye.

matt

True. They might study her once she finally meets the 50M CSPC requirement. And Kanye is #1 on the Leaderboard so I guess his article will come out soon enough.
