France Best Selling Albums Ever: Update Part 6 (41-21)
#39 – 7,000
U2 – War (1983) : 1 275 000
The Joshua Tree stopped its way at an estimated 5,000 units, War did better at 7,000 copies sold in 2016, confirming its impressive showing in France. Sunday Bloody Sunday is an utterly massive song for the band in this country, fairly close to With Or Without You. The stand-alone single charted at #95 in 2016. The album is a regular inside the Catalog Chart when it gets discounted which happened during the summer of 2016, providing it 12 weeks there with a #59 peak. This makes War the highest selling catalog seller from U2 for the year, ahead of their 1987 classic album and their compilation albums.
