Music industry – One step closer to being accurate
As they have been doing since 2001, the IFPI published this week the top selling albums of the year. Unlike the previous edition, when they got the #1 wrong, this time they properly reported the global domination of Korean superstars BTS.
At the start, the list had some issues mainly due to missing albums. As years pass, its accuracy is getting worse and worse. We will review their 2020 top 10 to see that none of the albums has both its ranking and its sales figure correct.

Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi, Queen, Phil Collins… All these artists and many others have had an enormous impact on the music of the 80s, and have sung some of the biggest hits of this period. Do you know which song is the biggest for each artist I mentioned above, and which one dominates this decade?
Do you have any idea of what was popular in Mexico during the 70s? Which international music star struck them the most? Was it Simon & Garfunkel, Led Zeppelin, or Elton John? Surely, nearly 20 years after the end of this era, to belong to the most remembered music that came out of it tells something. It tells they are regarded as the greatest by a lot of people. So which are these albums that continue to appeal the masses so many years after their release?
