France Best Selling Albums Ever:
Update Part 6 (41-21)

#22 – 12,000

Bob Marley Legend (1984) : 1 905 000

An incredible result for anyone else, selling 12,000 units is a fairly bad showing for Bob Marley compilation Legend, arguably the biggest perennial seller worldwide of the last 25 years. The album only charted 4 weeks inside the Catalog Chart, all of them during the last 5 weeks of the year. How is it possible that such an unstoppable selling machine did so poorly? First, due to usual mistakes from the SNEP. In spite of not appearing inside the Catalog Chart, it went a couple of times in the Comprehensive ranking. Second, because Bob Marley is such an unreal seller in France – way ahead of the likes Madonna, Beatles or U2 – that Legend is only the visible part of the iceberg. From week 13 to 52 of 2016, he amassed the outstanding total of 99 weeks charted with all his albums combined. In 10 distinct weeks, he had at least 4 albums inside the ranking, pushing the insanity to 9 distinct albums charted at some point – and this, without Legend. Up to 980,000 units, studio album Uprising will soon join the legendary compilation inside this list.
