A very promising country star in 2018-2019 when Whiskey Glass made the Hot 100 top 20, Morgan Wallen went through the roof with the release of top 10 crossover hit 7 Summers in 2020. Since then, sky is the limit for the American artist.
He became a compulsive record breaker. The 2021 set Dangerous: The Double Album topped US charts for 10 weeks, the longest leader since Drake's Views in 2016, and the longest for a country set since Taylor Swift's Fearless in 2008-9.
The set stood at 1 in the Country chart and top 10 in the overall ranking forever. At 51 weeks, he got the longest #1 ever in the Top Country Albums list, a tally that it raised all the way to 97 weeks. Inside the main top 10, he topped the all-time record at 86 weeks among non-Soundtracks, beating a previous best from 60 years ago. It's now up to 117 weeks there and counting.
Sales-wise, the album, despite registering close to 90% of its units in the US alone, is now past 7 million units.
One Thing at a Time is just as amazing. With it, Morgan Wallen enjoyed the most tracks charted simultaneously inside the Hot 100 at 36 as the entire album made the list, destroying Drake's 27 tracks record. At the same time, Last Night became the first solo male country #1 hit in 42 years.
The album, which was the biggest country male debut since streaming was introduced on charts at half a million sales, is now up to 8 weeks at the top, even blocking Metallica's last album while being 7-weeks into its run. If it reaches 10 weeks, which is very likely, the singer would be the first solo male artist with 2 10-weeks leaders since Elvis Presley and Henry Mancini in 1956-1962.
Numbers are up to 3 million, but this number will keep growing at a very fast pace. In the meantime, debut set If I Know Me has been building impressive totals on its own. It won't be long until Morgan Wallen claims 3 albums at 5+ million.

Yes his new album did stop Metallica from being number 1 in the US but the fans of these 2 artists have a very different way of consuming music. One likes to stream and the other buys physical music. Plus of course Metallicas new album isn't as great as their early material. Metallicas new album went to number 1 in more than 20 countries though, lets not forget that! 'Metal up your ass' as they say!

I've been following the guy for a while. Basic country guy, but huge popularity (US).
Wallen's album has more pure sales than Metallica's actually (194k vs 157k), and Metallica have more Spotify listeners (27m vs 24m), so I'm not sure what your point is. The fact that he blocked Metallica in his seventh week is obviously impressive and notable.

No, the PERCENTAGE of physical sales of the new Metallica album in the US is close 92% while for Morgan Wallen it's something like 23%. Also the number of Spotify listeners is a global measure, while the numbers shown here demonstrate that Wallen's success is not a global.
No idea what your point is either... Btw, Metallica have 25m Spotify followers and Wallen has 6m (and over 50% of Metallica's album sales are from the US).
Morgan isn't global at all but that isn't really a drag, most country artists aren't global. If you go look at Garth brooks and the % of his sales that came from the US all his studio albums sold 90%+ in the US, and he's the biggest country act ever.
The new album will only add like 200k pure max, not really large enough to warrant an update
