Celine Dion has sold over 200 millions pure albums , twice more than Britney. Celine is the second best selling female artist of all time. Destiny Child+ Beyoncé also sold more albums than Britney. Beyoncé has a lot of more streams on music digital platforms than Britney. As I can see is hard for you to accept the truth. Britney Spears’s records sale dropped low after that madness episode from 2007. That’s the reason why she failed.

Can you please stop posting your stupid reasoning, which seems purely based on bitterness and hatred.

Celine sold way more than Britney, yet Britney out streams her, yet you think Britney has failed. Your just talking absolute shit.

Well. Britney can out streams Celine, but still cannot match her in album sales. That’s the point. I am not hateful, I am just realistic. Taylor Swift has both...high streaming on platforms and the equivalent of 126 millions albums. In a less then 4 years, from now one, Taylor will equalize Celine Dion’s albums sales, and Britney will be left far behind if she will not release music again. Britney is lost. Have you seen her post in Instagram lately ? Now she has an feud with Selena Gomez...Selena was a huge fan of Britney, but she isn’t anymore. In 2021 Britney once again had twisted the world around her finger ...she got so much empathy and support from whole of the world, but she couldn’t manage to keep it for herself. She just screwed again with that crazy attitude exposed on social network. A lot of people who sympathized with her, after some time, they just gave her unfollow on Instagram. I been with Britney 23 years, and I been mad on those who criticized her, just like you’re doing with me right now. But I can’t no more...she disappointed me to much. She didn’t worth

You're not being realistic, you're being biased. You say Britney cannot match Celines album sales, well neither can 99.99% of all other music artists that ever were...yet you choose to only fault Spears for this.

In my opinion, she should be lauded, that she manages to out stream artists such as Carey, Dion and Madonna, who have all been significantly more popular and successful than her.

I'm not defending Britney here, I'm attacking your reasoning and rationale on this. It seems clear to me your reasoning and rationale is too emotionally based, you're just not being objective about her.

Beyoncé and Shakira were Britney’s peers on 00s right? They also managed to out stream Britney , and thats shameful, because with Celine is different. Celine start her career way before Britney, like in 80s. There is a big chance for Beyoncé and Shakira to surpass Britney in records sales but there is no chance for Britney to match Celine’s album sales. That’s the point. I am not biased I just accounting the numbers and the numbers doesn’t favor Britney, maybe only in a mediocre percent. So Britney has not high numbers of album sales like Celine Dion or Mariah Carey, either high streams on the digital platforms as Taylor Swift and Rihanna, Beyoncé and Shakira , she is mediocre in the both side. That’s what I meant. On the other side, Britney has just 5 nr 1 hits on Billboard, just one single Grammy award, much less awards than Beyoncé and a few VMA awards. She has no area of music in which to excel...except people choice awards, everything else about her music achievements is mediocre.

If you think selling 80 million albums and having 10 billion streams (while peaking in 1999) is "mediocre", then either you're a troll or you're completely delusional, which means arguing with you is a waste of time anyway.

What is your problem? If Celine, Rihanna, Adele outsold her. So what? I dont understand what the issue is? Great for Rihanna, Adele, Celine, whatever. Great for Britney too for selling 111 million records. 99.99% of all professional singers in the world would dream to have just 10% of what Britney have. She achieved amazing success. She has nothing left to prove. Lets just end this silly debate.

Yes. Britney is super mediocre, since Madonna has managed to sell 130 millions albums in 80s. 75 millions in 90s and 40 million albums in 00s. Yes she is super mediocre since when an ex fan of hers named Taylor Swift managed to surpass most of her achievements in one short period of time. The same With Rihanna. Both Taylor Swift and Rihanna surpassed Britney’s records sell , and they even are not her peers. It is not about her debut being in 1998...it’s about her fall in disgrace since 2007. That’s why her records sells went down. If Beyoncé can rise her music streams everyday, why Britney can’t do the same? Because her image is fucked. Don’t try convince me about your stupid arguments . As I mentioned before, Britney is on the mediocre level in what concerns physically albums sold and streams.

This is exactly what I was trying to report. Britney was surpassed by some female artists who debuted almost a decade after her appearance. I'm sure there are many artists in this world who would like to have the success Britney had. But Britney's competition is not at that low level. Britney started her career so strong and promising that analysts predicted she would reach a Madonna-like level of success, only to eventually be surpassed by some of her peers and even other female artists who came along in music industry a decade after her appearance. Britney fell from the highest level to a mediocre category. Celine at least kept the second position in the ranking of the best-selling female artists. The only female artist who surpassed Celine Dion was her peers Madonna, nobody else.

That's one downside of this site, we only focus on commercial metrics. The whole becomes blurred. It's embarrassing if you sell less than the other, superficial i would say.

Agreed. Sales are very impressive coming from a statistical point of view but they don't tell the whole story regarding how talented/creative an artist really is.

It's because so many sadly make it a competition. People turn it into a sport, turn an artist into their team, turn other artists into rivals, turn a list into a league table etc

Having said that, you're clearly missing the whole point of the website, it's not meant to be a place for subjective discussion, about the merits etc of music artists, it is quite specifically a place to discuss and digest the numerical side of the music industry.

Ok so? What is the issue right now? I dont understand. So what if she was surpassed by some female artist who debut a decade after her? She has nothing left to prove and I think its better if you just shut up.

I think it's worth noting that even tho Taylor Swift and Rihanna debuted later, they actually have released the same amount of albums (9) or more (10 Taylor), as Britney. Plus if you add in Rihanna's millions of features, and Taylor's re-releases, they actually have a higher output than Britney. A higher output in a shorter amount of time is the best way to maximize sales. Much like Britney did from 1999-2003 (4 albums). But then...things happened and her output decreased.

But ya I agree Britney being passed in sales by other artists doesn't just suddenly diminish her accomplishments. Taylor is going to be passing Whitney, Barbra, and eventually Mariah and Celine too.

billboard named Taylor Swift one of the greatest female artists in top 10, place 7 beside Mariah Carey, Madonna and Barbra Streisand. Britney jumped into a shameful 38 positions of the rank. You see Taylor Swift surpassed Britneys achievements step by step. And is not only that, almost all Britney achievements are vanishing or are not mentioned anymore by specific sources. Because I was a hard fan of her always I searched for information regarding her career. Lately I been notice that she is not mentioned anymore as the best selling teenager artist of all times validate by the world records , only about having the best selling album of a teenage artist. What does mean that? Someone is sabotaging her career?
