As fresh as catchy, Call Me Maybe was an out-of-the-blue success in 2012. Hitting #1 all around the globe in spite of stiff competition, the song closed the year as the #1 smash for the IFPI with a sublime 12,5 million units sold globally.

Carly Rae Jepsen who was then poised as the next big thing, failed to capitalize on that success. The lack of interest on later releases hits the performance of this song on its current streams. It took only 5 years for the song to switch from #1 selling of the year to 16th most streamed to date, a ranking on which it continues to decrease as the song was #13 a couple of years ago.
