Streaming World: Back To 2012

2012 TOP 100 HITS – #10

Rihanna – Diamonds – 389 639 000

Already charted at #28 with Stay, Rihanna does even better with the single Diamonds. One of her many global smashes, Diamonds is one of those who got the longest lasting appeal. To see her #1 in the US and the UK is no surprise anymore, but recording a song that spent 164 weeks on charts in France and around 1 year in each Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands or Sweden is an accomplishment for everybody.

This lasting appeal is visible at Spotify. Several years later, the song has still not drop out of the Top 10 from most streamed 2012 songs to date. It amassed 390 million streams in the process.

Carly Rae Jepsen has actually had a couple of other hits since “Call me maybe”. “Good time”, with owl City, was a top 10 hit in various markets (US, UK, Japan, France, Belgium, Australia). “I really like you” was a european hit in 2015 (#3 in the UK, top 20 in The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Denmark). It also reached the top 20 in her native Canada and Japan. Well, that’s about it. 🙂
