Streaming World: Back To 2000

2000 TOP 100 HITS – #2

Coldplay – Yellow – 162 600 000

Its lead of nearly 50 million over the #3 song is still not enough to grant Coldplay cult song Yellow the #1 spot. Being runner up is nothing to be ashamed of especially after starting so slowly.

Indeed, the song was an instant smash in the UK and in Australia, hitting the Top 5 in both places and sending the album to #1 and #2 respectively. The road to success wasn’t that easy elsewhere yet. In the US, the song never went higher than #48 and the album similarly peaked at #51. At #82 in the Netherlands or #96 in France among others, Yellow wasn’t a record breaking it in 2000.

Years worked hard in favor to this song yet. With the immense and continuous success Coldplay have been enjoying ever since, Yellow has for long moved into the section of all-time classic songs, just like its album Parachutes. Let review the incredible results of this album songs on below table. While the album ties the Eminem one with 7 entries inside the Top 100, it also has 3 more songs bubbling under the list.

Hence why its streaming count is so low. I don’t think… Read more »

One more very interesting article. Thank you for making our undertsanding of charts better!

She’s also one of the lucky acts who benefit from being successful in 3 different eras (peak of album sales, peak of digital sales, and streaming), so her CSPC results should be interesting! And unfortunately, as it happens with most of the big selling acts, there’s always been confusion regarding how much she… Read more »
