France Album Sales: Whitney Houston

I Look To You (2009) Era

Some seven years after her last album and more than a decade since her last hit, Whitney Houston came back in 2009 once she managed to exclude some personal problems from her life.

Although it ultimately lacked legs, the set debuted strong at #3, astonishingly enough the highest debut of her career. With no supporting single, the album went down fast, dropping out after selling 55,000 copies.

In February 11, 2012 the tragic passing of 48 years old diva was all over the news. Five albums reentered charts, The Greatest Hits (#5 and #27), The Bodyguard (#22), The Ultimate Collection (#52), The Essential (#56) and Love, Whitney (#184). Interestingly, apart from The Bodyguard, none of her studio albums reappeared inside the ranking. 2007 release The Ultimate Collection ended up as the flagship of her catalog as it added at least six weeks charted per week since 2012.
