France Album Sales: Celine Dion
Let’s Talk About Love (1997) Era
Strike while the iron is hot. After history-making 1995/1996 years, Celine Dion issued a new English album with Let’s Talk About Love in November 1997.
The lead single was a solid #4 duet with Barbra Streisand, Tell Him. For the last seven weeks of 1997, the album was #1 in the Album Chart, concluding the year on 650,000 sales. With Live A Paris selling 260,000 copies for the year and Falling Into You and D’Eux 150,000 each, plus all the rest of her catalog, Celine Dion sold a once again unbelievable total of 1,4 million albums in 1997.
Let’s Talk About Love was nowhere near to be over yet. During Christmas 1997, all-time highest grossing movie was released, Titanic. The Soundtrack became a massive smash, boosted by Celine Dion mega hit My Heart Will Go On. The song was a terrific 13 weeks #1. At some point, while the single was at #1 in the album side Titanic Soundtrack was #1 and Let’s Talk About Love was #2.
Third single Immortality, #15 peaking duet with the Bee Gees, supported the album well during 1998 summer as it never dropped below #16 in its first 40 weeks until August. The album sold 750,000 copies in 1998, pushing its tally to 1,4 million.
After nine months of strong stability the set quickly dropped 13-18-26-34 in August / September. Why? Barely because a new massive album was coming…
