France Album Sales: Celine Dion

PART iI: Getting Bigger 1990-1994

Unison (1990) Era

Since she moved to a major label with Sony a few years earlier, it was only a matter of time before Celine Dion start to release English-speaking albums. In April 1990, the first came out, Unison.

Several singles have been issued but it was really Where Does My Heart Beat Now that turned into a crossover hit everywhere with an impressive #4 peak in the US. In France, despite the less favorable language the song still went #20. The album wasn’t a best seller as even in Canada it peaked at #15 only – despite selling a huge 400,000 units by the end of its promotional campaign, but it ended as one favorite catalog item for several years as the artist profile was booming.

In France, Unison was one more album that failed to chart, selling an estimated 40,000 copies by the end of 1992.
