France Album Sales: AC/DC
Let There Be Rock (1977) Era
By 1977 AC/DC was still working hard to build a fan base by both hitting the road and recording new music. This concluded on a new album, Let There Be Rock.
Their growing following started to be revealed on charts with this record. For the first time, they entered the US Billboard Top 200 Album chart with a #154 peak. In the UK the hard rock group managed its first charting album with a #17 peak position. In Australia, Sweden and the Netherlands the album charted as well. The album best performed in this latter country as it made it to #10 in Dutch ranking. This feat is pretty ironical as from 1978 to 2008 the band was completely unable to reach Netherland Top 10 again – Back To Black peaked at an awful #27 position – making it arguably AC/DC worst market by far.
In France Let There Be Rock failed to chart mostly due to the restricted album chart size as the group popularity was definitely on a rise.
