France Album Sales: AC/DC

Blow Up Your Video (1988) Era

Due to the consecutive flops the band had suffered in recent years, their superstars status was long gone by Blow Up Your Video release in 1988. Despite strong failures in their attempt to get a radio hit with their own productions, the band still produced this record with the help of Harry Vanda, their early days producer.

It wasn’t enough as far as results can tell. Just like their previous three records, this set failed to reach the Album chart in France despite a January release date with very small competition. A huge flop upon release, as of today this album is also the band weakest catalog seller. Reaching an historical low point with an estimated 30,000 units sold, a far cry from their albums less than a decade earlier, AC/DC was completely out of fashion, overshadowed by other US rock bands which were enjoying huge successes like Aerosmith and Bon Jovi.
