The truth about Britney Spears’ album sales in Europe

WESTERN EUROPE – NETHERLANDS

I must say that I’m fairly disappointed in my own work in regards to Britney‘s albums sales in the Netherlands. There is as much as three errors that led to the flawed BOMT total. The first one was assuming the 1999 Year End Chart was based on sales, while this is true only from the year 2000, the 1999 Year End Chart is based on a point system making it irrelevant. The second mistake was using De Megaman’s figure of 200,000 units sold, as published on week 21 of 2000, as valid. While it was only the repetition of the last known figure which was first released in week 49 of 1999. The third was not carefully looking through the Way Back Machine website in order to recover NVPI certifications, given the database is now offline. BOMT is indeed officially 3xP.

Merging all the data together concludes on the following album sales to date:

  • Baby One More Time – 280,000
  • Oops!… I did It Again – 180,000
  • Britney – 60,000
  • In The Zone – 40,000
  • Greatest Hits, My Prerogative – 30,000
  • Blackout – 15,000
  • Circus – 20,000
  • The Singles Collection – 5,000
