The truth about Britney Spears’ album sales in Asia

EAST ASIA – HONG KONG

Even if Hong Kong has a database of certifications, it is another messy website, with almost no information about the last 20 years. The issue is solved for Britney with this table!

Once again, awards from two distinct dates are priceless. If we look only at 2006 certifications, BOMT is three times lower than Oops. In some Asian countries, like in South Korea, Oops did sell more but never by 3 to 1. The awards from 2011 confirm the albums were closer to each other with a real ratio around 2 to 1. Similarly, if we look only at 2011, we meet one more time the case of Britney and In The Zone having the same certification. With no more information, I would have assumed Britney is the best seller, which is confirmed by the 2006 certification.

Merging all the data together concludes on the following album sales to date:

  • Baby One More Time – 40,000
  • Oops!… I did It Again – 65,000
  • Britney – 25,000
  • In The Zone – 20,000
  • Greatest Hits, My Prerogative – 35,000
  • Blackout – 10,000
  • Circus – 7,000
  • The Singles Collection – 10,000
