The truth about Britney Spears’ album sales in Asia

Singapore has always been a tiny market, never reaching 10 million albums sold in a year. It is one of the more modern from Asia though. By 1995, the CD had already completely replaced cassettes, the only such country in Asia along with Japan and Hong Kong. The sign of a more developed economy, the market also remained consistent during the Asian economic crisis. In fact, from 1998 to 2003, a steady 5 million albums were sold every year. This concludes on very stable sales for Britney too, one of the few countries that saw Blackout sell more than 15% of BOMT sales.

Merging all the data together concludes on the following album sales to date:

  • Baby One More Time – 40,000
  • Oops!… I did It Again – 50,000
  • Britney – 30,000
  • In The Zone – 20,000
  • Greatest Hits, My Prerogative – 40,000
  • Blackout – 8,000
