Probably 87 to 12, their CDs came out in 87 and remasters in 09. I'd say they sold more 07 to 12, than 82.to 87, I think their catalogue sales were probably at their lowest,in the early to.mid 80s.
So, with 190 million EAS in that period, they reached 200 million in just over 25 years?
Maybe... The lower album sales in 07-12 compared to 82-87 might be compensated by the remasters boost from 09, to which we should add the arrival on iTunes in 2010. That said, they also had the decent-selling "20 Greatest Hits" and "Rock N' Roll vol.1&2" compilations between 82 and 87.
So are we thinking only Madonna, Michael Jackson and perhaps The Beatles as the other contenders? That's some pretty decent company to be keeping in that regard!?!
Wonder how long it took Elvis and Queen to cross the 200 million threshold? Obviously Queen had an enormous boost with BR from 2018 (I think their figure prior to that was something like 238 million EAS?) so I'm assuming they did not pass 200 million in anywhere close to 25 years?
I'd say about 30 years for both Elvis and Queen.
Céline Dion did 160m in 10 years by the way (190m with Titanic).

While his totals may include debatable stuff (is there really a debate, 8 mile / D12 albums sell 0 without eminem on them..), there is zero debate over the fact that he was the most popular artist in the world over the time period where pirating music also reached it's peak. There was an article a while back discussing how The Eminem show would have been certified 2x diamond in the first 48 hours if even 1 of every 5 pirated copies was an album sale instead, and would have surpassed lifetime sales of MJs Thriller in no less than 10 days.
Eminem peaked in the early 2000s, when album sales were literally ten times bigger than during the 1960s... You can go on and on with these comparisons (population size, album prices...etc).
And no, The Eminem Show wouldn't "have surpassed lifetime sales of Thriller in 10 days" without Napster 😆 The impact of piracy is difficult to quantify, some studies actually found no evidence of a statistically significant effect of file sharing on album sales (2007's Oberholzer-Gee and Strumpf, 2006's Blackburn).

Eminem's biggest strength is he sold 125 million albums, 200 million downloads and one of highest streaming stats. That is just crazy distribution and shows his insane longevity, value of his timeless catalog.
He moves like 7 million eas a year without new releases in long time. His last two albums have good stats and catalog sales.. Both over 5 million each and keep on adding. What a legendary career. He has chance to overtake madonna with the way his catalogue performs and he releases new albums. Crazy man.
