Can you post her sales in some other coutries,Such as Portugal,Hongkong,Taiwan and singapore.
I Wonder how many countries she sold over 1 million copies albums
She has 10 album went platinum in Hong Kong,CFOAD is 2XPlatinum
I Live in Hong Kong, she's really popular in here back in the 80s
Can someone explain me how this numbers are calculated ? Sales of Like a Prayer-track between Physical and Digital are a 1.212 MILLIONS CSPS, how this reach almost 18 millions ?
Every 'medium' that cointains the song Like a Prayer is taken into consideration. So it's gonna be its digital and physical sales as a single, but also streaming and all the albums, compillationa and remixes where the song happens to be. Of course there is a special ratio applied to calculate how many copies it 'sold'.
Thats because she made expensive flashy music videos for the MTV generation. The Stones and Pink Floyd didn't really bother. You go on to Youtube for the video generally, not so much for the music.
Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd debut at a time when music video does not exist. Not because they didn't really bother. They probably would have bothered to put effort into making videos if they debut in the 80s instead of the 60s.
I hope Madonna's upcoming Biopic and the recently announced plans of her label, Warner Records, re-visiting her discography will give her catalogue a big boost on streaming, especially for 'Erotica'.
It is so close to reaching 10M CSPC units, but with recurrent stats this low, it'll take ages for it to ultimately reach it. Hopefully, her future activities will give it a boost.
Hi
Correct me if I’m wrong but by the way I’ve understood the chartmaster system, when listing the top songs of an artist, the system does not do justice to the songs that are released along with a compilation album (in Madonna’s case Justify my love and You’ll see and in Kylie’s case I believe in you). I mean Justify my love has much better data (streaming, yt, physical and digital sales) than for example causing a commotion and it comes from an album that has sold 6 times more physical units than OST whos that girl and yet it comes after it on the list. The same goes for you ll see (better physical digital streaming video data and more albums sold) that does not even make it in the list. The same goes for Kylie minogue’s I believe in you in comparison with for example never too late.
Do The orphan songs that are first included in a compilation album get a percentage of the compilation’s sales? Do they have to compete with an album single for which physical sales, digital sales, streaming and videos plus its contribution to the parent album sales are all considered, while for the compilation singles (you’ll see, jml, celebration, etc) only physical and digital sales, streaming and video data are considered and not any contribution to a parent album sales?
Hey
I have a query.
Why is Into the groove considered to be part of Like a virgin album, while Die another day is not considered to be part of American life album? Especially if one takes into consideration that more than half of the LAV pieces sold do not include Into the groove (I mean all sold in USA and all sold worldwide before September 1985), while Die another day was always a part of the AL album. Also that the fact that the AL album included Die another day would serve as a motive to buy the AL album (for me at least it did).
Acting so boosts LAV into Madonna's no1 album, while AL loses a great part of EAS.
On the other hand American pie is considered an orphan song, while when taking streaming into consideration American pie streams add to the Music album streams. The same goes for Die another day when counting streams.
Hi Dimitris!
The first/most fundamental question we wonder when deciding where to exclude a song, is on which album it appeared first. Die Another Day was released on the soundtrack of the movie 6 months before appearing on AL, which is why it's an orphan song rather than a song from AL. In the other side, ITG was first available on an album through LAV.
The US/UK versions obviously can make this more tricky. A good case is Queen's Under Pressure, that first came out worldwide on the Hot Space album many months after the release of the single, but was part of 'Greatest Hits' early on in the US, where the GH hasn't sold that much back then, while making the tracklist of GHII in Europe, which sold tons of copies. At the time rules weren't as clear for us as well, as we kept getting new tricky cases like this, I would say that if I had to re-think it today, I would probably move Under Pressure into the orphan category, while I would stick with ITG on LAV but not DAD on AL.
Madonna's albuns haven't been certificated since 90's or de early 00's, how much a possible new certifications will add to her CSPC?
Are you guys including the new versions of Frozen's remixes in the Ray Of Light EAS? The song became viral on tik tok and she took advantage and realeased A LOT of versions.
YOUTUBE:
Madonna Vs Sickick - Frozen (feat. 070 Shake) 1,4 Milion
Madonna Vs Sickick - Frozen (Firebou DML Remix) 7 milion
Madonna - Frozen (Sickick Remix) | Circles Bob - Frozen (TikTok Remix) 11 milioon
Madonna Vs. Sickick - Frozen (Sickick Remix) 8,3 milion
Madonna Vs. Sickick - Frozen Remix - 2,7 milion
= 30,4 milion on youtube
One version of these on Spotify has more than 52 milion streams and there the others..
After reading Madonna's popularity analisys, the first thought I have is what if Youtube and Spotify would be exist since 1985, and the instant reply is that she would be still the biggest female artist of all times, easily in the top 3. Beside, she is the most pirated artist in all times (leaked albums, black market, piracy), countless unofficial channels in Youtube with her videos, shows, performances with dismissed views, etc.
