I think Orphan means they don't goes to any album yet. Maybe WAP & Up will be part of CB2
would Travis Scott & XXXTentacion qualify for light cspc because those are two of the biggest artists of the last 5 years

Yes, they were in the frontline. We had a spot to post one CSPC light yesterday to keep the website alive for these days since I'll be off for about a week as I'll be moving house, and the choices were precisely Cardi B plus these two.
I opted for her since there was the news of her baby and her album sales were very easy to estimate. The two others will surely be posted kinda soon.

We have been discussing for some time, Anthony brought the idea at first and it seemed fitting to test it with Cardi B.
We knew fans were going to want all tracks to be counted in full as for remaining artists, while others would feel that more than 50% off features is an inflation. We also wanted to clear the "orphan = feature" confusion, as many artists have orphans full of proper lead singles.
The split gives more clarity to the numbers, and enables everyone to discount features if they feel it makes sense. It also gives us the possibility to easily downgrade it in the future if we feel it's needed, as there are dedicated lines in the database for them with this solution.

Nicki discography is too large to fit the CSPC Light format, so she will need to be eligible for the request leaderboard to be treated. No doubt she would have strong chances to win the requests once it happens.
Halsey is not in the immediate pipeline for CSPC Lights, say she isn't part of the top 5 most overdue, but she is Top 10-15 for sure.
About Ariana, she is one of the 3 largest increases since our last update so she is definitely a hot contender when we have the good timeframe available to complete an update.

Yes that's the reason for it, Nicki is awful to treat. Download sales were very difficult and long to estimate, especially when the artist has a lot of medium-sized hits, and even more when they are features since it requires to search individually all additional songs as many charts do not credit properly features.
For all these reasons and considering her CSPC total wouldn't be that high (we are still missing Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond or Eric Clapton for example!), the ratio work/results has never been good enough.
Luckily our internal processes to estimate downloads are now way more efficient, while we also have key indicators to easily gauge the real numbers even for uncharted songs, so once we come to her now it should be easier and more accurate than it would have been 2 or 3 years ago.
