France Album Sales: Muse
Black Holes & Revelations Era
Now a confirmed force, Muse dropped their highly anticipated fourth album Black Holes & Revelations in June 2006. The album life started with a small upset in France as Laurent Voulzy, a strong local act, prevented them from debuting at #1 as he sold 74,000 copies of his album on that week, letting Muse at #2 with an estimated 40,000 units. With a very consistent run until the end of the year on the back of Supermassive Black Hole, the album was #22 for the year with 208,000 sales as per IFOP numbers.
Starlight was a sizable hit for the group too, crossing over from rock stations to most popular FM channels. Their first stadium show in France at the Parc Des Princes in June 2007 was full six months prior the concert day.
With 58,000 sales in 2007 and 34,000 in 2008, the album was just on 300,000 scanned sales by the end of that year. Thanks to this mass success, the catalog continued performing incredibly well. Absolution sold 50,000 units in 2006, 24,000 in 2007 and 19,000 units in 2008.
