Hey Chartmasters staff, can we expect the Genesis article soon? Just wondering. Thx 🙂
Hi Kris!
To be as transparent as usual, I’ve yet to start my part on Genesis. I’m currently working on an extra article, hihglighting a monster case of ‘hidden’ sales, which is taking longer than expected. It is key to work on it though as it impacts a lot of CSPCs (slightly or more notably, depending on the artist genre) for historical artists. Hopefully pieces of this will come out this week 🙂
A massive blind spot in in sales from what I’va seen that has always interested me is the likes of classic female artists such as Etta James, Brenda Lee, Billie Holliday, Doris Day or even Dianne Warwick that all seem massive in name but their streams are often add odds with their chart positions and there little to no certification for any of them
I have a request for you. I have a question for you if you are considering there are three ladders? One for male artist, one for female artist and one for the group.
Up to three artists can study this way at the same time, which would mean more chances for many of the studied.
There would certainly be a lot of fans of this site.
How about the band Surfaces. They make songs that are a blend of jazz, soul, pop, hip hop, reggae and calypso. They have released 4 studio albums.
My predictions for Genesis results : 110-115 million EAS .
just out of curiosity any light cspc’s or updates of contemporary-ish artists coming soon?
She probably doesn’t fit requirement list so she isn’t here…But is there a possibility that you would consider doing one for IU (most successful K-pop solo Artist?)
(I mean in my Impossible world, chartmasters would make an analysis for IU, G dragon, Tayeon etc for comparison basis)
She sold like over 100 to 120 million downloads. Although cheap in korea. That will be around 15 to 18 million EAS. Lets give it 20 million eas. Add her pure album which are around less than 2 million. 21 to 22 million eas. Streaming became big in korea around 2017 and even we add worldwide numbers. She will be around 30 million EAS maximum.
So would that make her eligible? What is the criteria for local Artist?
I think SIA must be studied next after Lin-Manuel Miranda . She has interesting discography up to in digital-streaming era .
Can’t wait for the Genesis one to be out.
Kanye west deserves a CSPC and Streaming Masters Post. He is a another popular rapper that hasn’t be studied yet.
