The truth about Britney Spears’ album sales in Oceania & Africa
Oceania – Australia
The figures in green reveal that all Chartmasters’ estimates were spot on. Even the figure for The Singles Collection, in spite of the official award not being up to date. This accuracy has been achieved thanks to Year End lists which are very useful and which I have been studying for a long time. Posting the Australian Year End Charts, with units sold included, is one of the targeted series to come.
Overall, results aren’t that good as per the standards of Britney. Until Circus, none of her albums had been able to sit inside the Top 10 during the Christmas week and none of them have topped the charts. This highlights the lack of a true cross-over appeal in the different generations of consumers. Circus is also her only album that made the Year End Top 50 twice, making it a strong high-point for the artist in Australia.
Merging all the data together concludes on the following total album sales to date:
- Baby One More Time – 320,000
- Oops!… I did It Again – 240,000
- Britney – 160,000
- In The Zone – 120,000
- Greatest Hits, My Prerogative – 180,000
- Blackout – 90,000
- Circus – 155,000
- The Singles Collection – 40,000
