Full Length related records Sales
Nirvana released an extensive list of music videos, live albums and compilations. All those records that include album tracks – documentary type releases are excluded – are listed below. The tables include both the total sales of the records since release to date as well as combined streaming of its entire track list.
How to understand this table? If you check for example Nirvana compilation line, those figures mean it sold 7,600,000 units worldwide. The second statistics column means all versions of all songs included on this package add for 659 million streaming plays on Spotify as of July 6th 2016.
The second part at the right of the table shows how many streams are coming from each original album plus the share it represents on the overall package streams. Thus, streaming figures tell us Nevermind songs are responsible for 57% of the Nirvana tracklist attractiveness, which means it generated 4,368,000 of its 7,600,000 album sales and so on for the other records.
A few comments now, Nevermind is obviously the main selling machine of the group catalog. MTV Unplugged In New-York is the only Video / Live / Compilation from Nirvana for which Nevermind represents less than 50% of its strenght. This is the consequence of both the absence of Smells Like Teen Spirit and the presence of various new and popular songs, giving a solid part of this record to the Orphan Album.
Line after line, Nevermind amasses huge sales. Truly huge. Four records bring it from 2 to 7 million sales each. We already studied various huge albums, the biggest of all being Guns N’ Roses rivals classic album Appetite For Destruction, which banked in 45 million CSPC sales. Nevermind is responsible for more than 20 million of sales from albums listed on this previous table, an unreal total which coupled with the original album sales, will definitely make it the most successful album that has been checked so far.
