I seriously doubt that many of those acts will ever be looked at Cameron, sorry. I personally can't ever see acts like Sonia or Big Fun getting enough votes on the leader board and besides there are many other popular acts from the 80s, in the UK that would be far more deserving, such as say Madness, Erasure or Shakin Stevens, who were all far more popular and successful.

What happened to ClIff Richard? I think he was in or near the top 10 before.

Hi guys!

The Beach Boys win this round following the posting of Tina Turner, 548 points for them was enough to offset Depeche Mode's 444. They will be the next addition!

I'd given him 25pts at one point, which had him on 168pts and just inside Top 10 but decided to change my votes.

i think you guys should go genre by genre. like if you do nicki, jay-z, lil wayne, outkast, beastie boys and 50 cent (maybe also nelly and mc hammer since they have diamond albums) then the best selling rappers/albums list will have been basically complete. for pop and rock there are so many artists to cover and their top sellers have been studied anyway so they can be left for later.

also for rock i suggest 2000s artists like the killers, limp bizkit, my chemical romance and florence&the machine. plus chris brown/r kelly and frank ocean in a different genre. especially curious about chris brown's sales.

Hi esrblgn!

Tbh I quite like this view, although I'm not sure how realistic it is as some genres would be pushed away a lot. Popular rappers who are underrepresented so far, I often though about posting some as 'bonus' outside of the votes for Black History month or Martin Luther King day. I would like to have others' views on your idea!

Even tho genre-by-genre would be nice for comparisons, it would just push the top legacy artists even further down the road for being studied. It would take a whole year of studying and publishing articles just to make it through rap, then another year for the big 90 and 2000s rock bands, etc. Plus, if people really want multiple articles in a row of the same genre, they are free to vote that way right now. I say leave it to the voters. I like the variety.

Also hip hop is already advantaged in the current list considering Jay-Z (#4) or Nicki Minaj (#9) are way above artists who sold twice more than them like Kenny Rogers (#81) or Willie Nelson (#108)... Bad idea imo.

So the Beach Boys are up next. I expect them to be close to the 200 million threshold

No way they're close to 200m, that's Zeppelin/ACDC/U2 territory, the Beach Boys weren't that big. My guess would be 140m or so.
