Enter Sandman was always bigger than Nothing Else Matters, physical and digital sales for both :
ES : 1.39m
NEM : 1.01m
ES : 6.05m
NEM : 3.98m
Youtube isn't just music though, for example the Thriller video has much more views than Beat It even though it's clearly a less popular song. I can see why Metallica fans would rather watch the NEM video (which is like a mini-documentary about the making of the album) than the much more generic Enter Sandman video.
Hi btsaoty!
Most of its streams are from Persona songs, which is quite misleading.
it won't make a huge difference but can you change Taylor Swift's self titled album to the big machine radio release special
Nicki minajs queen album has a bonus version so its missing about 70million streams
oh, that's unfortunate.. just a quick question, is the Album's title the only factor that decides wether or not a reissue can be included? cause I could name a few that contain songs from like 3 different artists' albums that have the most streams and are still on the list 😅
If you eliminate the Persona songs, MOTS 7 has 2,566,718,383 streams, more than enough to make this list. That's more than half of the total album streams.
It's still a very big amount from songs from another album, if it was a few millions I wouldn't mind but it's not.
But can it not be included if it has over 2.5 billion streams? Persona is here and it has less than that.
i believe "the midsummer station" by owl city reached 500 million streams recently. Also This page is awesome btw
Hi KPopFanMan!
Sadly, there are no easy way to deal with this, the script scans thousands of albums and retrieves results at face value. If we start setting up specific rules for specific releases, that would be a nightmare, as tons of albums would get into weird spots like 7. Here we have two choices, letting Persona, or removing it and replacing it with 7 instead. At first it was a no brainer as nearly all streams came from Persona, now it's more debatable, although so far we stood with the earlier releases since it came out first and contains the big hit of the MATS period.
I understand the script issue, and I know that's why the team tends to use the Deluxe version of an album if possible.
But I think having MOTS: 7 here and withdrawing Persona is the wiser choice. As 7 holds all but 2 Persona tracks (including Boy with Luv), 7 makes more sense to include to represent the MOTS era as a whole.
