Crash is a new album, for ongoing years we always allow lower albums at the start of the year (say 100m+), then start limiting to roughly 300m+ albums from the summer, and 500m+ by the next year. The point is to follow these albums while they are alive, rather than adding them at the end of their chart life, while making sure that the 2022 list isn't near empty!

(What's The Story) Morning Glory? and Californication over the black album is quite surprising

Californication was released in 1999 and peaked in 2000, obviously a huge advantage compared to a 1991 album when it comes to streaming.

Morning Glory on the other hand might be as popular as the black album, which is Metallica's best selling album but not their most popular.

The black album over Morning Glory should have the advantage of the wider North American market.
Nevermind also came out in 1991 and yet it surpasses all three quite clearly, it just seems to be in another category 😉
I was expecting the black album just below Appetite for destruction.

I think the mainstream succes of Wonderwall makes the difference for now, but Metallica is catching up.
