Presley's EAS numbers have stopped growing once again........... Does the size of a artist catalog work against them in the tabulation of their totals? Since the Numbers are spread over a much Larger catalogue of songs........as is the case with Presley or Sinatra et cetera ?

Seems like there's a glitch in regard to the tabulation of presley's totals. They will update on a regular basis for a couple weeks. And then just stop ?

Hi Todd!

We have scripts to detect suspicious totals, which happen when Spotify serves duplicates for about an hour daily while they are updating their own database. During that timeframe, several versions of the same song can have playcounts from the previous day while other versions already got the new playcount, so songs appear twice.

To avoid this, the scripts count how many duplicated tracks are expected for an artist (it happens that some tracks with the same titles have distinct playcounts, so these duplicates are legitimate) to know if a total is suspicious or not. When flagged suspicious, a new streaming total isn't used for CSPC calculations.

That's what happened with Elvis' numbers from August 11, they got flagged as suspicious as he went from 1695 tracks / 1533 distinct titles to 1714 tracks / 1543 distinct titles, suggesting 9 new duplicates. I checked, and they are legitimate, so I validated this set of numbers and now the algorythm will compare with these tallies.

With the explanations, you can see that indeed artists like Presley or Sinatra, with very large catalogs and a lot of 'movement' among available/unavailable tracks for some minor versions are more likely to face these situations. We do have the tools to fix it up easily so feel free to report such occurences!

Taylor is already above Bad Bunny, it's a matter of months until she becomes #1

These are overall streams. You're talking about monthly listeners

What is going on? Drake jumped from 63 billion to 66 billion lead streams in one day approximately Oct 11 (but not in total streams) and now Bad Bunny jumps from 59B to 62B lead streams on Oct.14. Obviously some songs have been reclassified from features to lead, but why?

I wonder why these ranks don't match the ranks that are displayed on each artist's page on Spotify, even if they are a day older or not, they still never resemble the ranks displayed at artist pages on the app. For example, top ranks this whole weekend on the app were, and still are:

  1. The Weeknd
  2. Taylor Swift
  3. Drake
  4. Bad Bunny
  5. Rihanna
  6. Ed Sheeran
  7. Doja Cat
  8. Justin Biever
  9. SZA
  10. Dua Lipa
  11. Billie Ellish
  12. David Guetta
  13. Bruno Mars
  14. Coldplay
  15. Shakira
  16. Ariana Grande
  17. Miley Cyrus
  18. Eminem
  19. Travis Scott
  20. Calvin Harris
  21. Olivia Rodrigo
  22. Post Malone
  23. 21 Savage
  24. Kanye West
  25. Imagine Dragons
  26. Maroon 5
  27. Harry Styles
  28. Lana Del Rey
  29. Karol G
  30. Sam Smith
  31. Nicky Minaj
  32. Lady Gaga
  33. Marshmellow
  34. Adele
  35. Selena Gomez
  36. Katy Perry
  37. J. Balvin
