Does it always or generally apply that an artist who sells 90,000 seats in Japan and several times that in Australia is also selling well as a recording artist and yes this is a throwback question that would apply to numerous unnamed artists MJD🤓?I would use Elvis or Streisand but he never performed anywhere beyond North America and Barbra did but very late in her career and very few shows outside of London.I guess only 1 artist went back to 1955 in Australia and 1962 in Japan . Food for thought that will be answered soon I am sure.Numbers don’t lie and that is why your work on historic icons is imperative , also a history lesson in evolving stardom/multi media!Keep up the superb work✌️💜

Hi Rey!

Well as pointed out before, although it wasn't automatic there is some R&B artists who did very well in Asia. No Scrubs was definitely huge there. They like songs with a solid and efficient rythmic part. Obviously, the strong Asian market back then also helps.

When a song is sampled by a popular tune that can do no bad. This being said, No Scrubs was already incredibly strong on Spotify and the likes before that. It's all the more impressive since they got truly no love from Latin countries which are more and more important in our streaming world!

Hi again Rey!

As you know I'm personally from France, a country typical for not welcoming easily teen pop groups. It's also a good scale to see groups are truly breaking over the main audience.

Out of the ones you mention only PCD got much talked about over here and that still was nothing huge. All these bands have clearly not got close to the likes Spice Girls, Destiny's Child and TLC.

History tells us it's all about cycles so we can't rule out seeing new super successful girls group in the future. BlackPink is illustrating just that in some places, there is still a long way to go for them yet.

Question:
How is it possible CraxySexyCool sold 11,800,000 in USA??? Its soundscan is around 7,800,000 and I know soundscan did not count everything, but where did this additional 4 million come from?

Hi Bucky!

Actually it did, it was under 7 million Soundscan sales when it was awarded 11xPlatinum. Some 3 years later by 11/2002 it was still on 7.1 million "only". It has been a very good catalog seller since then!

My question is, why did u put the actresses from TLC biopic movie as a background for the graphic, instead of the actual group?
