You Belong With Me, Love Story, Blank Space, Style, Shake it Off, Lover are all hits that are actively charting on the Global 200 Spotify Chart. You're insanely delusional if you think the millions fighting to see her live don't in some way shape or form represent the 'general public'

Literally one of the biggest hitmakers ever. Numbers don't lie, people and especially pressed stans do

I can only speak from my perspective, but I agree with you to a certain point. Her whole career has pretty much passed me by musically, obviously I am aware of her insane popularity being a fan of sales etc just not her music. She just doesn't seem to appeal to me or my demographic, 50 year old male, it was similar with acts like Dion and Carey in 90s, they were huge but the majority of their catalogue just didn't seem to appeal or filter through to me or men in general, although their bigger hits did seem more well known to the general public and non fans, than Taylors.

Fair point, but isn't that also a consequence of the changed roll of music in society? In the 90s you had to listen to the radio or buy music yourself, so hits were almost inescapable. Nowadays, anyone can choose anything to listen to, and music is a part of memes everywhere, so you can choose to avoid what you don't want.

These are all known by her fans, but gp?

They probably know anti hero and shake it off....

Charting in top 100 or 50 of global 200 means nothing.

It just means some young people know these songs but not the gp.

Her shows are selling out because of her name, plus people want to see the concert.

She's widely known by young people but not older generations.

She's definitely not on mjs level.

Everywhere you go taylor is popular with kids up to young adults. But adults over 35 just don't know who she is. They can't name a Single song from her. At here in Europe

Go back to the MJ thread then, or is he not popular enough to keep you interested lol.

She crushes radio, Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, pure sales, literally every single metric.

What you cant seem to get through your head is obviously Taylor is going to be the most popular amongst the generations who consume the most music when she is the most popular.

I’m not sure why you’d choose to corroborate someone who goes out of their way to diminish Taylor, but your point is fair for your perspective.

The reality tho is that this isn’t a Taylor issue, and it’s not even unique to her generation. Younger folks aren’t familiar with the catalogues of the Beatles, MJ, etc. as 50 year olds.

And these questions are only being brought up because Taylor is getting closer to closer to MJ’s level, so his fans need to come here to spew their lies and cope.

I don’t know what you would consider a song known by the gp worldwide, but wouldn’t you at least consider it Blank Space and especially Shake it Off? That 2 songs are maybe in the, top 20? (Or around that) most successful songs in the last decade, and were almost everywhere, with massive radio too.
