About streaming . "Love story" have 1.7 billion video streams on QQ . It means that : 1.734.000.000 * 5 = 8.670.000.000 .
8.670.000.000 / 6750 = 1.284.000 EAS from QQ . With other streams it had to be at 2.500.000-3.000.000 EAS . How it works ?

Am I the only one who thinks that streaming will lose weight in the coming years? based on taylor's current daily streaming units (not including any new release)she will be the female artist with the most EAS units ever in only 3-4 years max. That doesn't make sense and doesn't seem real.

It’s a fair conversion since people don’t listen to the records they buy 1500 times

No? She's an outlier and clearly music has never been more popular than right now

The EAS concept will always be controversial I guess, but similarly comparing 60s artists with 90s artists doesn't really make sense since the music industry was in a completely different state.

Comparing artists from the same era is easy, comparing artists from different eras is very difficult and maybe impossible.

No, and truthfully, the growth of streaming only allows us to see a more equitable assessment of artists, as we can get a better sense of how artists are succeeding across different markets in ways impossible before. Taylor can rack up millions of album units in PH or Indonesia whereas MJ/Madonna never could for example.

The reality is tho comparing artists across time periods as a concept doesn't make sense if you really think about it. The music industry and the world were demographically, socially, politically, completely different 40-50 years ago, technology and abilities to promote were obviously different.

I think this is the best we have to create such a level of comparison, but it should be noted Taylor isn't just 'another successful artist in a successful period', the level of success she's seeing is truly once in a gen and hasn't been seen since THAT period of imperial artists.

Plus, let's be honest. Very few people listened to albums 1500 times back in the day so like...

gotta give to her, she has everything on her name.
She will soon have the highest grossing tour in history, she will soon be the most streamed artist ever and she still sells pure sales in a crazy way. years ago this would sound absolutely crazy

Holy f***, not in my wildest dreams I would imagine her sales to grow at this rate. We were in 122 million at this exact time a year ago. When are we going to get a new full update?

She is a very dominant force in the music business. 2019 she was the best selling artist in the world (IFPI). 2020 and 2021 the second best. 2023 once again the best. 2024-2026 she will be again in such heights. Just like the older acts she is growing fast in this list like they have back in the days. They sold 20-30 Million albums in such a year, she sells album units in such years. It‘s a fair game.
