I know you struggle a lot with Taylor’s success but the site you spend your days at has plenty of links which confirm how massive she is in the continent. A quick look at the Biggest Spotify debuts in Asia will tell you that Taylor has 4/10 biggest weeks debuts in the continent. Choosing and picking stats like certified streams in Japan won’t change that. Hope you sleep well tonight and perhaps find some peace with her MASSIVE and ever GROWING success in Asia.

Lol soo massive, but she fails in the biggest markets Japan and south Korea.

Even MJD confirmed Bieber is more popular than her in Asia. He is HUGE EVERYWHERE in Asia. Has no weak market like Taylor.

I like taylors music in fact I listen to her more than Bieber but she is soooo overrated in Asia.

Justin has the 13th highest debut in the continent whereas Taylor has the first and another 3 albums above his. He's also huge there. It'll be okay.

Yeah it's strange how Justin has more streams in Japan and Korea but taylor still outdebuts him.

Well see how her tour sells in Asia if she has the guts to come there (:

That’s because the entire continent of Asia isn’t just the two countries where Justin has more streams. Anyways, this conversation is going nowhere if you’re implying she doesn’t have the demand to tour or sell out her shows there. I should know better than to try and have a rational discussion with a troll.

By the end of the decade all of Taylor's albums released up until Midnights will have crossed 10M units. In 30 years time it is likely all of them will have crossed 20M units. We are witnessing the biggest female artist of all time. And she is still in her early 30s. Madonna, it was good while it lasted.

I don't think it's the same though. The Teenage Dream and The Fame re-releases included new material, sure, but it was packaged together with the original LP. Taylor's re-recordings are something else entirely. They are released years after the originals, by a different record label, and are not the same recordings as the original, the whole point of them is for her to re-do her music so she owns the master recordings. There is a good argument to be made they should be counted separately because they are not a re-release in the traditional vein, and what's more, if the aim of the site is to provide accurate info re: success, the re-recordings should be counted separately because it belongs to a different rights holder with a different label than the original.

I think MJD is mistaken by not separating them. For the music industry, they are different projects (and, literally, are not the same recordings) that are financially benefitting different parties. They are not intended to be a re-packaged version of the originals like practically every other re-release ever. It would be more accurate to list them separately IMO. And it would provide a better breakdown of data that would also provide insight into whether the fans are gravitating more towards the originals or the new versions. That's just my two cents.

None of them tried to re-record their albums entirely so that they could own the rights under a different record label though. Red TV and Fearless TV are not repackagings of original material like most re-releases are. They are not meant to benefit that original material and drive interest towards it but instead to replace it. That is the key difference. Most re-releases, compilations, etc. derive value from the existing original masters. Taylor's re-recordings are an attempt to REPLACE the original masters.

The math isn't mathing... That's like 205 million. Madonna is nearly at 250 million. And in 30 years she'll likely go up around 10 - 20 million. I think it's possible Taylor surpasses Madonna's sales but it's probably gonna take longer than 30 years.

Saying she isn't massive in Asia and now you're saying she's overrated in Asia?

Are orphan track totals moved to album totals when the track is included in a rerelease? Ronan being added to Red Taylor's version for example.

You don't know what will happen to taylor either. She can totally slow down after her re recordings are over. You can predict the future.

Nah it'll happen by the end of 2026 max, she's on track to move 40m CSPC in 2023 alone.

Madonna and Taylor Swift are probably the most successful female songwriters. Madonna is 40 % responsible for her songwriting, while Taylor Swift is over 60 % for her songwriting.
40 % from Madonnas EAS is just under 100 million, while Taylor Swift's 60 % of all EAS is also under 100 million. Used vf site, where % estimations come from. Not exact numbers, but Madonna little ahead, 5-8 million EAS.

It's very hard to be pessimistic with results like this from an artist 16 years into her career but you always manage to think the worst.
