Thank you for the updates! Great work as usual.
Wow her results are truly outstanding for me. In
particular the raise of red and fearless, and how the albums after 1989 are growing steadily.
Red (taylor's version) - just astonishing results.
Her discograpjy is so consistent .
hey MJD and other Team Members!
congrats on your hard work! it's really appreciated.
I think there's a mistake with Speak Now's Compilation Sales. Speak Now World Tour Live Album sold 587k yet only 319k are allocated to SN. looking at its tracklist on Spotify I'm pretty sure 90% of its streams are from songs off the album SN. the figure allocated towards it should be more like 500k.
Also, on 1989's QQ streams, I noticed you went from using ×50 to ×5 can you explain your reasoning?
also, since Red Taylor's Version is above 1m can you add its per country breakdown image like you do for other +1m selling compilations ?
thank you again.
Hi Padilla!
No error on Speak Now World Tour, it's mainly a video, while the CD is indeed full of Speak Now tracks the video closes with Fifteen and Love Story, which are actually much bigger than Speak Now songs, hence Fearless taking a good share of its sales.
About QQ, the reasoning has always been *5 for songs available for sales, as they aren't available for audio streams so we estimate only "equivalent video streams", while *50 is for songs not available for sales, thus video streams are only a small part of the total Chinese streams, as these tracks have been streamed in audio a lot as well. The last time we overlooked that our automatic process was giving *50 to 1989 singles, as the album had stopped to be paid-for only a bit before the update (it was removed from sales in April 2021).
As most of her albums have now been available for audio streams since 12-15 months, we used *10 for these so that we account for both facts that they weren't streamed for most of their chart life but have been available lately still. We will increase this number as time goes by, depending on how much her streams continue to increase.
I usually list breakdowns for 2m+ sellers but I'll add it to the article once I'm back on my computer!
Justin Bieber's QQ streams remains unaffected though. Both being the most consumed western artist in China today,so both should be treated equally.
why "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" has fewer digital downloads than before?
Because a re-recording is essentially a remix. Just another version of the same song. Think of it that way. The source material is from the original album.
Great update nice work!
But I'm confused can someone explain to me why Taylor lost 3m streaming units? Did Taylor have that many streams from features?
It sold 1.6M+ digitally in china, since those sales were around 40-60% of standard price they were weighted as album sales at 0.06 in her compilations section
Thank you for this very much needed update! I love to see how Lover to Evermore gained so much in the past year or so.
wow since this comment she got 2 albums at 4 billion ... and 3 viral songs
I am a little confused since the number listed is:
Total Album (all types) Sales per Country 53,3m
STUDIO ALBUMS SALES 51,055,000
OTHER LPS SALES 8,657,000
wasn't supposed to be 59.712.000 on total album all types per country?
This doesn't make sense when all official charts, which have clear-cut rules on what counts as a remix and what doesn't, treat the re-recordings as separate albums. And it is very much contrary to the purpose of releasing Taylor's version in the first place.
Hi Lammar!
The total sales per country doesn't include all formats such as Chinese DLs, DVDs and most EPs.
It's not a question if it's the same album. sales of lives and compilations are also assigned to the studio release. It's simply a question of what songs are on it, different version or not.
And official charts aren't clear on this, all of them have their own methods. In Germany for example was her re-recordings merged with the originals on charts.
