But they're still using the old ratio for Taylor and other artists. Hope they could apply it immediately to everyone.
Also I am curious about the rationale of changing the weight.
From what I noticed, the new ratio for streaming was applied to all artists on the list. I saw Taylor Swift jump up about 8 million or so. There is an article explaining why they changed the formula; it's on the front page somewhere.
The part that hasn't been updated for all artists is the new ratio for featured songs. From now on, artists who are featured on songs will only get a portion of the sales and not the whole amount like before. So if Taylor has a lot of features, her total will drop down a bit when they update her article. For example when they updated Drake's total he lost like 18M sales due to being a featured artist on so many songs.
the new streaming formula is only applied in the All Time Artists ranking page, but not in every artist's article yet.
also Taylor is barely featured in a few songs, i doubt she will lose more than 750k EAS due to the new way of counting features
Her biggest song as a featured artist probably Both of Us, Two Is Better Than One or The Joker and The Queen. The reduction probably not significant judging from the commercial success of those songs.
Taylor feautures are non relevant, the only one which add something is Highway don’t care and not that much. So the effects are going be low
Is QQ music the only streaming numbers taken from Chinese platforms? Is it possible to add Kugou, Netease
etc streaming numbers with the next update? How do you actually determine apple music's number for a artist?
Hi zeusfelix!
A multiplier has been set to QQ numbers to account for remaining CN platforms.
Thank you for your response. Also, how do you get Apple Music's accurate number?Do you get it directly from artist/labels?Also where are her Pandora, Deezer, Tidal streams? She already surpassed 9 billions Pandora streams in 2019(according to the plaque she received)? I don't see those numbers here.Just curious
- Pandora "streams" aren't streams, they're radio spins, you have no freedom with choosing what song is played therefore it's disregarded from song/album units by all Certification companies (RIAA etc..)
- AM, Deezer and Tidal don't publicly share their data. so to represent them Spotify numbers are used with a multiplier ratio (Spotify*649/406)
Okay, got it.. Can you tell me if EAS of streams are up to date for every one in the all time list? So, the only thing left to be added is her pure sales in the next update? Or some adjustment is still left to be done with the EAS of streams in the next update?
The eas of streams were updated for the total (i don't know if left some adjustment, but definetly were update for the jump that happened). But for example, for the albums will not be reflected until the update.
I remember when it used to feel like an eternity for her to gain +1m in CSPC. It felt like she wasnt moving at all while everyone was moving up so fast. Now fast forward a few years later she moves 1M in the blink of an eye. Kinda insane how fast things can change. So cool to witness her still moving so many units 16 years into her career!
I believe she’s third in line to be updated after Billie Eilish and Imagine Dragons
