English speaking people is the main population she targets and the one that matters most to her brand. This is the case for all international acts in non-english speaking territories except for the occasional massive crossover hit or blockbuster album
Sales Gained since the last Update:
1.05m Traditional Album Sales
450,000 Digital Singles = 67,500 EAS
1.204m Chinese DL = 572,000 EAS
Total: 1,689,500
if we add that to her current number (97.9m) she's at 99.6m EAS
If you read the article you would see that they are indeed counted already. They're just not inflated to the insane numbers her stans like to think she did there.
Hey, Is it true that Chartmasters doesnt count the sales generated by some streaming platforms and thats why the numbers are a bit different from other sources? Like the recent numbers that made the rounds on social medias (I dont remember the source but it was something reliable) which said Taylor was on 105 mill and Rihanna was around 102 mill CSPC ig. (Btw please update Eminem's numbers if its possible, tnx)
Hi!
Our formulas are adjusted to account for platforms we're not taking streams directly from (like Apple, Deezer, NetEase etc)
The reason other sources reports higher numbers are down to different weightings of streams and Chinese sales I suppose.
Numbers coming out of labels in this fashion are usually for promotional purposes, so there's a big motivation for them to make them look as impressive as possible. I would take these type of claims with a grain of salt at least.
I totally got you now, but which method is the one that is considered more official? For example, Eminem is pretty close to 200 mill CSPC sales but when does official sources like Chartdata or Billboard annouce that he finally got there? The moment Chartmasters acknowledge it or the other sources? I hope my question makes sense!
The CSPC formula is ours, I doubt the likes of Billboard uses it. They do not have access to global sales figures like they do for the US anyway. Chartdata is no official source whatsoever, they simply repost whatever info other sources put out.
Of course you can choose what source you prefer . Personally I couldn't bother less about an artist's "total sales" figures coming out from an official source or not unless they provide an actual breakdown of the numbers and explain how they calculated them.
Roc nation has already confirmed, in June 2020, that it has already surpassed the mark of 100 million equivalent albums.
Republic said Taylor surpassed 100m in early 2020... labels always inflate numbers
roc nation also said ANTI sold 11m which means they use the same formula for Paid and Free Streams.... their statements are definitely unreliable
I think including physical sales from evermore a d folklore she’s just about passed 100million anyway + new fearless it’s almost certain
They're pretty great for a western artist to be honest. Pure sales simply aren't that big there anymore.
