HDD also said Taylor is at 200 million plus. Chartmasters is most accurate
Nearly 1.427 million from stream is crazy in just six days. When factoring pure sales and teas. Worldwide first week sales will be around 4.5 to 5 million album units alone. It will be her fastest album to touch ten million pure barrier with tour to resume again soon. And album is stable. Everytime u think she peaked, she surprises u. Although 2023-2024 will be very tough to top even for her in future.
If she moves around 50 million units this year too. She has moved around 20 million plus units already in first four months. So it looks very much possible after tour resumes. 100 million album units in two years is like just crazy seriously. And it will have significant pure sales too. Not just streams. In 2023-2024 , she must be moving around anywhere from 15- 20 million pure sales in this day and age, which is kinda impossible for western artist. ( If anyone has actual amount of pure sales worldwide in 2023 as she moved 5 million pure in usa alone ). Even after eras tour, her catalog will keep doing the job over the next decade.
So is Taylor a global A-league artist like Adele, MJ and Madonna were?
She had the highest opening sales of the decade in the UK, highest in three years in France, biggest European streaming debut surpassing Divide
Ho Togetic!
I'd be more hesitant a couple years ago but at this point it seems pretty clear that she is.
According to Final Hits DD Numbers TTPD moved 2.6m units in total activity in the US in it's debut week, including 1.915m pure sales! This is the second biggest debut of the Nielson era, behind Adele's 25 in 2015.
In the UK it moved just over 270k units, including nearly 180k pure sales, becoming the biggest debut by an American artist in the country since The Scissor Sisters' 'Ta-Dah' in 2006.
Notably, the album also 46k units in France, and likely over 100k units in Germany as it was the best 'international solo artist debut' since Divide's 120k unit debut in 2017.In the Netherlands it sold 16.5x the #2 album (Pearl Jam). The album has racked up 15 #1s on official global charts so far.
TTPD also crushed numerous Spotify records debuting with 1.173B streams globally in the first week. It became the biggest debut ever in Asia, Europe, North America, and 20 different Spotify markets, including the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Malaysia. It also became the second biggest weekly debut in Indonesia and Brazil, and third biggest in Germany and the Philippines.
TTPD also flooded singles charts, particularly in the US and Australia where Taylor locked the entire top 10 in both markets. In the US predictors have even stated she could end up with the entire top 14. Fortnight became the first song to debut with over 100m filtered streams on Spotify, and TTPD's nearly 900m ODS in the US smashed Scorpion's record of approx 745m.
She is. . she is more of album artist and touring artist in Europe like rock bands. Her singles charting could be better. But it doesn't matter when you have multiple albums in top European markets year end charts. As singles job is to promote album anyways.
The US, UK, Germany and France alone probably put her at 2.2m-2.25m, These countries comprised of 85% of her global pure sales for Midnights, so if we apply that same global breakdown to TTPD she probably debuted with 2.55m-2.65m pure sales globally. This is excluding Chinese digital downloads, as TTPD was not available for digital purchase in China.
I disagree, MJ and Madonna had crossover no 1 hits in Europe AND huge albums. Taylor has the albums but lacks single success.
We need her pure sales updated soon TTPD's final numbers are out.
Midnights, Lover, Speak Now, 1989 and TTPDs sales are very outdated by now.
I bet she's going to surpass 210 millions soon as they update her.
Headline Planet just confirmed that Republic Records reported +4 million copies worlwide first week.
This is completely insane... She is already one of the top 10 best-selling artists all-time with a full update.
Wow, it's hard to imagine that being possible but everyone knew it was gonna be a huge number.
