She's simply selling more than they ever sold at their peak, make of that what you will.
"which will do 1.7 billion plus in end"
Over 2 billion from what I've read?
Jake will crate alternative theories to cope and i said 1.7 billion usd as conservative estimate as ticket prices in Europe, Asia, south America, australia won't be on par with America.
So it looks like Taylor will have 5 albums in the top 10 of 2023 in the US, equaling The Beatles' record of 1964. I don't think anyone else ever had 4 albums.
She has sold 18 million album units in 2023 in USA. By end of year. Her total must be around 19 million USA and worldwide 45 million in 2023. Like even if she slow down after 2024, her catalog sales would be enough to make her best selling female artist of all time. And we know she will release more music. Crazy part. Her overseas sales will make her ifpi number one artist even without USA.
She is historically on way to become biggest solo act of all time in USA. And fun part is she is moving mote units outside America in this phase of career. And is on way to 100 million plus album units outside USA as well!
For some people who cry about adding reissues to originals ( never see same crying for old Rock yt bands with countless best of ). The average will be 13 million plus for 14 releases. That even makes it more incredible and they will keep increasing year after year. No female artist in history had such consistency. Even madonna had some underperforming albums despite her consistent success for first 25 years. Taylor is amazing in this regard too.
And i think she sold around 7 to 8 million plus pure sales worldwide too this year in this day and age. If she manage the consistent 5 millio plus pure for over next decade, 100 million plus pure is on cards and i am not counting Chinese sales, which are considered pure sales by ifpi. If we count them, She will reach there in five or six years, with more albums and great catalog sales. Personally I see them as pure sales like itunes download albums.
Elvis did 200m in the US though, similar to The Beatles. "Biggest solo act of all time" in the US essentially means biggest act period.
Oh I forgot about that. I meant charting wise not overall sales. Then she has long way to go. I guess as women artist she is clearly number one?
I know is from a different album but Anti-Hero and Cruel Summer made the combo for this eras era
Yes definitely. These songs definitely gave her sales push in 2023 to whole discography not just parent albums. I just want multiple smash hits from one era.
Taylor is predicted to move another 460k units based on just albums in the top 50 this week! Midnights predicted at over 70k units is ridiculous, the pure sales xmas shopping boom has been immense.
Midnights has 60 consecutive weeks in the top 10 btw, Tay's previous record was 53 weeks for 1989. I think the record is Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA with 84 weeks!
"I guess as women artist she is clearly number one?"
Yes it probably happened this year actually, before her it was either Madonna or Mariah with less than 90m I'd say. Another achievement for Taylor in 2023, becoming the biggest female artist ever in the US.
