No, he is not wrong. Was the Witness era superior to Joanne on YouTube? Yes! But the formula for converting views into units sold is at least 10 times that of Spotify (audio). And on Spotify, Witness has 700 million plays, while Joanne has 650 million, so the difference is not big on streaming. In addition, the fact that Million Reasons have more than 220 million reproductions in Spotify is something praiseworthy since there was not even a day in Spotify's biggest playlist (Today Top Hits), Katty Perry's CTTR, as well as the other subsequent singles received MASSIVE support from their playlists / impulse on that platform, getting, each single, for at least two months in the largest playlists (source: http://musically.com/2017/02/10/katy-perry-chained-to -the-rhythm-gets-a-big-spotify-push /). In addition, Katy's label was so desperate for the pot of gold that it created a fake lead single record (Chained To The Rhythm) about breaking the biggest debut of a female artist on Spotify, and after being denied, deleted that news on the same day.
So do not compare and talk about discounts / performances, since performances in 2017 do not represent 50% of a good investment in playlists and radios currently (we are not in 2009-2013, where performances had a lasting effect). In addition, Joanne had sold 1 million copies (with streams) worldwide for only 2 months according to IPFI, so SuperBowl only came to solidify the success of Joanne's album in America (3x more sales than Witness).

Gaga did OK with Joanne, while Katy flopped with Witness. The same goes with ARTPOP and Prism, but in inverted situations in the success question.

Why do you say Joanne's 130,000 sales in the UK include streams and takes 25,000 copies of that total, while in Beyoncé's article you used the exact sales that they revealed on the same site (334,000 + 6,000 pure copies that came from somewhere else of the planet Earth, since the album has not decently charted in the UK for more than a year, totaling 340,000)?

Gaga's article: The Gold Certified Collection in the UK WITH SALES OF 130,000.

Beyoncé's article: Lemonade was number 1 and has GLOBAL SALES of 334,000 so far.

Please note, GLOBAL SALES mean sales with STREAMS, not pure sales so far, like you thought.

The final questions are:

1) Why did you use sales with streams for Lemonade pretending to be pure sales?

2) Even though Joanne's sales were 130k with streams, why did not you use them in Joanne's article, in the same way you did with Beyoncé's Lemonade, since in both British artists articles do not specify revealed sales include or not streams?

If you have put pure sales to Joanne, put in the Lemonade article pure sales in the same way.

If you put the sales with streams for Lemonade pretending to be just pure sales, do the same with Joanne and put the 130,000 that the article indicated, since they did not specify whether or not they included streams (in both article).

Be fair for your site to have credibility and longevity, please.

Hi Lenda!

To expect credibility it would be better to state accurate information. The 334,000 you mention is dated from February 9, 2017 chart. The exact count was actually 333,886 units by that date.

Up to September 28, 2017, the official DUS tally of Lemonade was up to 358,746 units and still averaging close to 500 units a week. There have been 40 weeks since that figure, so up to date OCC sales should now be on 370,000 units without taking into account the boost after Coachella.

As you can see, the 340,000 figure doesn't include streaming sales nor "copies from somewhere else of the planet Earth", it was simply an up to date value of its net shipment just like for every artist rather than a mere copy/paste of an old data.

You may challenge the share of streaming sales, I'll invite you to check OCC's chart history for streaming albums you may be surprised by the results since Lemonade massively underperformed in the UK on that sector for obvious reasons.

You can't prove that Lemonade has 340,000 pure sales and Joanne 130,000 with streaming. It's just an estimate, moreover, it's pretty obvious that the 340,000 reported for Lemonade in UK include streams (you put it like pure sales to make up the fact that Lemonade was extremely local - 80% of sales coming from the US). If you want to prove right, I'll be here, but if you come with more divinations .. I'd rather ignore.

You are the only one claiming that 340k is without streams. All figures stated by the OCC since 2014 refer to comprehensive sales + streams formula. In case you don't know, Lemonade was available on Tidal only, a streaming platform with very few users in the UK. By its 6th week, it was already outstreamed by the Beyoncé 2013 album in that market. The fact that the net shipment (340k) is 30k lower than the current OCC tally show these units have been discounted, just like for Gaga, just like for anyone else.

The fact that you stick with outdated data only shows you aren't interested in accurate figures but instead expect to inflate your favorite artist. On top of that, I already mentioned the streaming UK album chart is available (with top 3 doing 2k+, top 10 1250+, Top 30 700+, top 100 400+ units by 2016) at the OCC, if you are too lazy to check the available information, don't tell others that facts come from "divinations".

Again I will say, where are the links? Where's the proof? That's bullshit, estimation, not real sales. You do not have an article that proves what you say... Think that Lemonade sold 340,000 only in pure and Joanne 130 ,000 with streams is daydream, I'm sorry.
The articles use the same terms, "sales", you guaranteed to benefit the artist you like the most.

I really don't see what troubles you so much. Nobody said that 334k for Lemonade is a pure sales figure, you are the one talking about that. I'll make it simple and clear, as of both articles' respective publication dates, these albums sold:
- 370k OCC units (P+SEA) for Lemonade, inc. 340k pure sales (streaming run: 1[9,985]-2-6-9-18-52-86-100-out)
- 130k OCC units (P+SEA) for Joanne, inc. 105k pure sales (streaming run: 2-4-10-30-49-60-45-45-53-81-74-82-//-//-//-82-63-out)

Here: https://chartmasters.org/2018/03/cspc-lady-gaga-popularity-analysis-2/11/, has an error, you continue with the equivalent sales of the Born This Way singles with the data for 2016. The sum gives 41,685,000 / 10 = 4,168,500, not 4,080,000 equivalent albums as you put it, look:

Born This Way (2011)
Born This Way – 10,060,000
Judas – 3,240,000
The Edge Of Glory – 6,150,000
Yoü And I – 3,310,000
Marry The Night – 1,480,000
Hair – 630,000
Remaining Tracks – 2,920,000

27,790,000 * 1,5 = 41,685,000 / 10 = 4,168,500 equivalent albums, not 4,080,000

Can you fix it? Thanks.

Did Billboard count the sales of The Fame/The Fame Monster (The Deluxe Version) combined?

Why the sales of ARTPOP are at 800k when Billboard said it was less same for Joanne (640k)

Hi ArtpopMonster!

Artpop scanned 775,000 units in the US, definitely more than Joanne!
