Hey man, good job! But I think they are well over 100 million. Could you do similiar job for Whitesnake and Rainbow? Really interested how many did they sell
Two batch codes from Bananas in Brazil that I found- AA 8000 and AC 5000. So there is no way it sold 8000. And mos likely it sold closer to 20000 copies. Purpendicular is severely underestimated too.
Hello, in the meantime, great work guys. Anyway, I sum up the total EAS for every album (in the last column on the right) and the final result is just over 100 million albums sold. I can't explain this big difference between the 100 million calculated by me in the right column and the 93 calculated by you on the site.Thank you for a reply.
Hi Filippo, I just added up all the totals in far right column and it comes to 93,198,000 not 100m.
Sorry Martin, I made a mistake, my fault. Just a curiosity, you are more informed than me about it. In your opinion, at least one band among those mentioned (Kiss, The Who, Pearl Jam) has reached at least 100 million albums sold? Or in the total including singles? I ask because it will take a long time for them to be analysed, so I'm happy with an estimate. Thanks again, you do an excellent job.
Hi Filippo!
If we talk about album sales, only 1 missing act is over 100m, that one is Neil Diamond. Then some artists are in the 75-90m range, like Willie Nelson, Julio Iglesias, Kenny Rogers, Kenny G, George Strait, Andrea Bocelli, the Carpenters, and Chicago. Several of these will hit 100m CSPC units with physical singles, downloads and streaming added.
Bands like The who, Pearl Jam, Foreigner, Scorpions, are expected to perform similarly to Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Def Leppard, with CSPC numbers exceeding 70m, some even 80m, but without getting into the 100m league.
If we count B'z as a hard rock band should they be above 100m record sales. Although it's due to a huge amount of single sales, I don't think they're pushing above 90m in terms of CPSC.
Deep Purple is still among the best-selling artists in Japan. It comes up from CDjapan's best selling ranking list, physical products. From to month to month is close to top ten or in top ten. The entire catalogue sells well. In fact Led Zeppelin rarely appears on the list. Queen, Beatles, Stones, Santana, Springsteen, Billy Joel, Clapton and Taylor Swift of course in top five are most popular. Oricon uses cdjapan's sales in its report. In Japan almost 70 % of recordings are physical, beside there is Superfans who buy no matter how expencive publications are. For example Bob Dylan live Budokan 1978 complete was third best selling article last year and the price is 40000 yens or 280 dollars. One box is 15 albums and 10000 boxs is 150 000 albums.
Hi MJD for the quick and exaustive answer. In the meantime, thanks again for the careful work done. I am grateful to you.
Therefore the only rock bands to reach or exceed the threshold of 100 million albums sold have, in all likelihood, already been analysed. I believe for example that Aerosmith, with the current growth trend, will exceed 140 million albums within 5 years. Do you think this is an accurate prediction? Clearly based on a trend that doesn't vary excessively over the years? Thanks again for the scrupulous work you do. I conclude by reiterating that we would like more people like you. Details are the key to success.
