The Michael Jackson Biopic is coming out in 2025. Would it be possible for Michael to reach 400million total sales after the release of the film?

He's at 520-525 million right now, after the biopic he'll be #1 pretty comfortably

He absolutely needs a update, and Sony needs to re-certify his decade old record figures at this point.

Is he? It honestly wouldn't surprise me if he was close to selling 500million records world wide.

Or Michael Jackson estate confirmed 2012, that he has sold one billion records (albums). When Jackson died 2009 album sales was 750 million copies according Sony.
Not so reliable numbers.

And yet Queen are the best selling music act on continental Europe.
And their streams are almost double than MJs.

Incidentally, Queen are named top global artist, Jackson is 3rd.

Sony themselves explained where the numbers came from, unlike The Beatles and Elvis who have no credibility for their claimed sales.

"Michael Jackson: The Numbers (2010)

Chartmasters gives 240 million album sales to Jackson and EAS is 330 M (physical, digitals, audio- videostreams).

The Beatles have 318 M pure albums and EAS is 433 M.
Jackson comes 100 million after the Beatles and gap is growing.

Hi Anon,

You speak about having "no credibility" and then go on listing a list full of delusional figures from online boards and pretend it comes from Sony/Universal. This comment section isn't for fanatic's trash, I'll just remove your messages if you are just spreading fake informations.

Do you think that Michael will reach 400million total sales at the end of 2025? Since the biopic is coming out.

Those figures are a bit high, the Beatles are probably inflated too however in his book Michael Jackson - The Magic And The Madness, J. Randy Taraborrelli wrote: '...I also reviewed a computer readout of all of Motown's exact sales figures as of December 1990. This computer readout is over ten thousand pages long and includes the album, tape and CD sales of virtually every Motown release from the time of the company's inception. I refer to these figures quite often in this book.'
He cited Ben at 1,701,475 in the United States, if we take into account his Motown figures and the worldwide adult figures provided by MJDangerous and other users who ran the website that documented them. At the time of his death he'd actually have this

  • Motown Singles - 14,037,560
  • Motown Albums - 21,386,872

The rest of his global sales figures at the end of 2010

  • Adult singles - 96,728,270
  • Adult albums -  206,626,000
  • Music Videos -  29,300,000

Factoring in Double albums & box set album units it would be about 226 million solo albums
The most accurate total of sales he had by 2010 was up to 390 million max
Excluding the sales he had from 2009, he sold in additional 53 million worldwide according to Billboard up to 2019, putting figures by 2019 at least 453 million, today he's now around 460-470 million not taking into account largely outdated certification figures that Sony hasn't applied to update like Digital Singles etc, which would put it above 100 million digital singles

I understand that Journalists can't help their bias when it comes to being against Michael Jackson but they should at least be smart enough to be able to read. Unfortunately most of them cannot do so, so i'll spoonfeed you

The rest of the list can be found there, if you aren't bright enough to search it out.

LOL If it wasn't for the media Lynching him over false allegations and dehumanizing him with racial remarks, slurs and accusations about him 24/7 for decades he would have already been far and away the #1 artist in sales by the time Invincible came out. He's the most famous person to ever live, and his career was still grossly underachieved based on what he could have accomplished if he weren't so horrendously treated
