Hi Christian!

There has been no recertification or whatever, just a claim out of thin air, as mentioned by the Guinness themselves.

"Madonna, 65, said during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last year that she had sold over 400 million records – albums, singles and digital – during her career. While precise sales figures are difficult to obtain, it’s widely acknowledged that only The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson have sold more records worldwide, making Madonna the best-selling female singer."

By the way, they do NOT list this figure among their Madonna's records.

I admit, I was wrong. I had to say Taylor Swift. Madonna is getting old. Let's hope for a renaissance.

Just wondering why no one commenting here has noticed so far. Whether like her or not, this is an extraordinary achievement:

Congratulations to Mrs. Ciccone on a quarter of a billion in equivalent album sales!

Maybe because Chartmasters sticks to the facts and we don't live in cloud castles here. But the time
is right for Madonna's renaissance now, a sold out tour and a future biography.

What are you talking about? They are directly quoting the CSPC figures for Madonna!

Como esta en el GUINNES RÉCORD CON VENTAS DE 400000000 MILLONES DE VENTAS. POR OTRO LADO EN LOS 80 Y PRINCIPIOS DE 90S NO EXISTÍA ALGO EXACTO QUE CONTABAN VENTAS
ASÍ MISMO AUN HOY EXISTEN PAÍSES QUE NI SIQUIERA LLEVAN UN CONTEO

I don't know what you're talking about, except that you obviously have no plan what equivalent album sales mean. I'd recommend you to come back when you've at least roughly understood the estimation process here. Basically, it's always easier if everyone commenting here owns a certain amount of standard information for the discussion here.

Hi, @chartmastersorg I've been following you guys for years. since Mariah Carey's sales figures were updated, I've been having a few little questions. I was wondering if you could help me with these little problems. I would really appreciate it!
For example, "We Belong Together" had more than 5 million digital downloads after its update, while "Hung Up", which launched the same year, had only 3 million digital downloads
"4 Minutes," released in 2008, had only 5 million digital downloads, but I looked at the national charts and digital sales in the United States,"Hung Up" and "4 minutes" performed better on the European charts than "We Belong Together"
"4 minutes" has sold 3 million digital downloads in the US alone, and if "We Belong Together" has sold more than 5 million digital downloads worldwide, are "Hung Up" and "4 minutes" also underrated?
Or maybe "Hung Up" and "4 minutes" did well on the European charts by selling physical sales? and maybe their digital download numbers are correct now?
These questions have been bothering me for a long time, and I would really appreciate it if you could help me answer them!
Or if it is convenient, could you please update the sales figures of Madonna again
