Can anyone tell me where to find the 2007 release, "Elvis, The King" (2-CD), sales..? This was a chart-topper in UK, Germany and Austria, but these old eyes of mine cannot find it.
Hi Kjell Arne!
It's page 79. Although it was titled The King in some markets, it is the same compilation as The Essential Elvis Presley and is added to it!
Michael Jackson had much bigger impact outside US than Elvis ever had...Just check MJ's sales with 1/4th of Elvis's discography and just see his insane Global heat map
4 of those albums came from a Motown kid who also happens to be a black artist and in 70s let's be very honest it was tough for black artists to sell ..It don't matter if u take RACE into account or not in case of MJ ... Whatever he achieved with off the wall ,thriller during that era of Racial barriers is enough to say about MJ
Yeah MJ with 12 albums with 2 postmothous and 4 as a Motown kid ..not to take anything away from Legendary Elvis ..Let's not forget MJ being a black artist crack opened the market with off the wall way back in 1979 when racial barriers were pretty strong in music industry... Don't downplay the success other artist just because the other has been more successful with limited discography/input
PG 20/ROUSTABOUT LP/1964./This 625,000 sales figure (US) has got to be too low. It got an official RCA WORLDWIDE sales figure based upon dollars (not copies) at $1,125,000 in 1965-(back of the Elvis For Everyone LP).It's mono/stereo release just had to be combined, with (for sure) the mono version sold more./As a popular seller ,it got to the top of Billboard's LP chart in 1965,& was subsequently re-issued many times, even as an ;orange label. As RCA failed to get it certified as RIAA gold, (it could have ,using RIAA rules in 1965),it looks like one of those records that became 'gold' only because of Presley's death, as an RIAA award in 1988.This is hardly the fact,& perhaps CHARTMASTERS should acknowledge the original RCA GOLD award in 1965?/Adding to this, there is the 1966 catalog release as RCA's STEREO 8 release as ROUSTABOUT P8S-1143.These early 'tub'' plastic releases fit good into new cars. ROUSTABOUT, & others, as 8 tracks, continued to be reissued into the later 1970s.While I will limit myself to re-issued sales in the 1960s.-where are the sales for these ?/
POT LUCK Elvis Presley 1962 /No.15 CHARTMASTERS/Presley's recorded legacy is loaded with inaccurate speculation ,with a lot of it due to Col. Parker. The 1962 POT LUCK LP found Elvis's attempt to record material not promoted by film. CHARTMASTER's US count at 450,000 (mono & stereo) copies seemed to be right for 1962,noting far less sales than the previous (film soundtrack) BLUE HAWAII LP,-off very successful film. This LP was nevertheless a very successful charted entity, as a BILLBOARD no.4 & a no.1 in the UK.(CHARTMASTERS has it at 150,000 sold in the UK-not bad for 1962).It was NOT proclaimed a WORLDWIDE MILLION DOLLAR LP on the back of the Elvis For Everyone LP in 1965.MY problem is that while RCA (finally) proclaimed it a WORLDWIDE MILLION DOLLAR SELLER in it's official 1971 CATALOG, it NEVER got to the RIAA. Since 1971,considering it's continued catalog listing ,as an 8 track & cassette, sales after Presley's death in 1977, as well as at least 2 later reissues as separate CD issues into the 2000s,you would think RCA SONY would have added it all up ,at least by 1971 based upon US sales alone well over it's initial 450,000?It's got to be MORE than a GOLD award? Or can CHARTMASTERS do it, adding to it's WORLD figure of 870,000 as well?
ELVIS IS BACK LP.CHARTMASTERS no.10 /CHARTMASTERS (US) at 675,000,has got to be low? As a WORLD total at 1,160,000,it seems that this LP has better stats to match? As Elvis's first official 'Living Stereo' release (released in mono & stereo ,with mono sales selling more) in 1960-61.An another RCA mistake , it could have been a RIAA award in 1961,with RCA not getting around to it until 1999..This LP got to no.2 on BILLBOARD,& lasted on (LP) chart for 56 weeks. In March,2011,it actually charted as a re-issue in BILLBOARD, which then proclaimed it at 199,with an added week-a total of 57 weeks on a chart of 200,which did not exist in 1960-61.Within a couple of years, BILLBOARD changed it's "all time" stats to start in August,1963,dropping Presley's 57 weeks to 1 week-at least until the end of 2020.The LP was officially credited by RCA at $1,125,000,world wide-on the back of the 1965 Elvis For Everyone LP. The next year it was also issued as a 'new' stereo 8 track (P8S-1135),as well as part of a 'twin-pack' coupled with GI BLUES on P8S-5043).It would later be issued on cassette, as well LP. Later CD product in noted above. These sales just have to ADD to CHARTMASTERS figures/
It Happened At The World's Fair-Elvis Presley.1963./CHARTMASTERS no.17.The CHARTMASTERS WORLD figure at 600,000.This LP DID reach top 10 chart status in 1963.It is NOT noted as a WORLDWIDE MILLION SELLER on the back of the Elvis For Everyone LP in 1965.It was put on stereo 8 ,as an 8 track (P8S-1140) in 1966.By 1971,it was DROPPED as a re-issued catalog item. Later in 1977,following Presley's death, the LP was AGAIN released as (APL1-2568) in the (US)),featuring the original MONO cover, in STEREO form. Like all Elvis product release in 1977,however brief, this LP, as well on 8 track & cassette ,just have to ADD to total sales
Paradise Hawaiian Style 1966/Elvis Presley/CHARTMASTERS no 25./The 1971 RCA catalog notes this LP as a WORLDWIDE MILLION $ SELLER. This updates CHARTMASTERS WORLDWIDE figure of 430,000 before 1977.
CHARTMASTERS could look into (especially) the 1977 re-issued Presley LP sales of HAREM SCARUM no.23,SPINOUT no.26,DOUBLE TROUBLE no.28 & CLAMBAKE no.29.With these sales, each of these (deleted in 1971) US LPs, ADD to over 500,000 each, as WORLD entities./
FLAMING STAR /CHARTMASTER'S no.77 / This (noted) post 1977 RIAA awarded LP is noted at 2,150,000 totaled by CHARTMASTERS. This has got to be too LOW, as it is based upon combined Camden-Pickwick figures, most of it from post 1977 successful marketing efforts, along with other 'low priced' budget product./As this LP was ALREADY noted as a MILLION DOLLAR LP seller by RCA (not RIAA) in it's 1971 catalog. Yet these sales had to include a Billboard chart placing at 96.While this figure is considered low, the (then) rules made this LP have to sell more than the usual LP, based upon price. As this (US) CAMDEN-2304 LP issue at least sold its way into a so-so charted item, it should be noted that it sold to the general public as a REISSUE.As a SINGER PRS-279 issue, from it's stores the year before (1968),it was a huge sales success, with perhaps the MISSING ditty from the Elvis TV SPECIAL "Tiger Man' generated most interest.?./It should also be noted that this LP found better success as a CHARTED item in other countries like in the UK.(top 10)..Sales of the same product, as counting SINGER & CAMDEN, before PICKWICK ,just have to ADD ,far more total sales to this LP.
CHARTMASTER's No.82 notes FOR LP FANS ONLY at 430,00 worldwide. Considering the contents of this LP contained ALL re-issued material (on single or EP release ) this initial sales figure seems right .Lower US charted figures in 1959 also back this up. It is surprising however, that after this LP was also converted into re-processed stereo in 1963,as well as mono, it still failed to make it to RCA's MILLION DOLLAR status, even in RCA's 1971 catalog. Someone at RCA just had to be asleep! Or if not, considering 8 track & cassettes sold ,just had to ADD sales well over 500,000?The same should apply to CHARTMASTERS No.9-A DATE WITH ELVIS, world sales at 460,000.This has got to be a LOW figure, using the same facts noted above (CHARTMASTER's No.82).BOTH of these 1959 issued LP's just have to have been GOLD status (over 500,000 each) using re-issued formats issued (even) before 1977.CHARTMASTER's needs to ADD more to initial figures. Perhaps RCA needs to get these certified as RIAA items-however late?
Lmafo Elvis invented pop stardom you are skunked if you think MJ had a bigger impact
